  • Off to Boot Camp!!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I wont be posting here for a while. I enlisted in the Coast Guard and leave for boot camp next Tuesday. I am excited. I do have a question for everyone here. I am like six pounds over my weight. I could be taped and probably still make weight but I would prefer to be safe then sorry and be under weight. I have been preparing for this for a long time and would hate to screw it up over a few pounds. Do you have any tips? I have about six days to be down.

Best of luck to you! I'm sure you'll do well. Six pounds over six days shouldn't be much of a problem if you put your mind to it. More cardio, less carbo and lots of water. Boot camp will probably take those six pounds off you anyway - and then some!

Coast Guard boot camp should not be that hard. Just do as you are told and say Yes Sir and No Sir. Stay out of trouble especially when you get your pass to go to the base Pub.

          Weight

Congradulations on your choice to join the military. Your weight shouldn't be too much of an issue. You should try to advoid carbs for this last week, but don't do anything too drastic. The best way to measure success in basic training is if at the end of your 8 weeks (or whatever it is now) your drill instructors don't know your name and have to look at your name tape to figure out who you are, you havn't screwed up too bad. The best advice I can give is to keep your mouth shut and do what you're told. There are always a few screw ups in every class, just make sure you're not one of them.

All the best, and you will be in my prayers. I served three years in the United States Army and three years in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. I am proud of my service to the United States. As was stated before, go low carb with lots of non starchy vegetables until you shed the pounds.
