    See if any of this can relate to current events...and for 50 extra points, tell me who I'm quoting;

It has resolved personal worth into exchange value, and in place of the numberless indefeasible chartered freedoms, has set up that single, unconscionable freedom- Free Trade. In one word, for exploitation, veiled by religious and political (I'll add nationalistic) illusions, it has substituted naked, shameless, direct, brutal exploitation.

    ...

The cheap prices of its commodities are the heavy artillery with which it batters down all "Chinese walls", with whichit forces the "barbarians'" intensely obstinate hatred of foregniers to capitulate. It compells all nations, on pain of extinction, to adopt the bourgeois mode of production; it compels them to introduce what it calls civilization into their midst, i.e., to become bourgeois themselves. In one word, it creates a world after its own image.

Pig-Dog is an insult often used by Germans in the German language, but you have it backwards. Its actually dog-pig. 'Mutswine'...pardon the incorrect spelling.

        carry on...

There's nothing wrong with being proud of your country. We have it easy compared to most of the world, so if it ain't broke don't fix it. At the same time, if we have it easier then its our duty to strive for achievement.

What is really sad is that a whole generation is forgetting how to say the pledge to the allegiance.

You can be proud of your country without putting down other countries.

Oh...as for the country...I don't have a problem with the landscape...or even the way that the government was supposed to be like, but you know what.....the people living here for the most part suck...public education, our healthcare system, and the whole thing is fucked.

When Cuba has a higher literacy rate, and when it becomes cheaper to go down to Mexico to get your grandmother's meds...you KNOW shit ain't going right.

Doesn't really matter. As soon as China decides that trade with us is unnessicary, and as soon as they cut their currency off from the dollar, we're going to be SOOOOOO unbelievably hosed.

America shoots down freedom...the only thing here that's relatively close is a rudimentary free market, shit's not even true lassez faire.

I really want to know, what in your mind is so great about America? And DO NOT try and compare it to other countries, that whole "lesser of two evils" shit is really wearing thin on my nerves...when people just roll over and do that shit, they've already given up hope for molding their own destiny and a better future.

And...yes it is broke, and it is in very definite need of fixing, or, Jesus, one thing that capitalism and consumerism has taught us, if it's too much trouble to fix it, cut your losses and REPLACE it.

It's what we did to Great Britian, for a whole lot fucking less.

Literacy rate and education has to do with parental involvement and upbringing. When you live in a free country with so many options, you don't have to decide or be decisive. In Cuba, you probably have one choice - study.

Life is what you make of it. Think about it.

Not entirely with you on the education issue. We have people bitching about having to pay taxes for the public schools in this country... and we allocate most of the tax money we do collect towards two really fucked up institutions, the prison industial complex, and the war machine. (the upper-crust in this country have a real PLAN for future generations, huh?!)

Public schools get less money in certain areas...and with Bush's "every child can get fucked" policy...the inner city schools, and places where education is needed most will get further cuts in their budgets.

People without health insurance are screwed, the HMO (I calls 'em homos) and the Insurance companies putting pressure or hospitals and doctors...and pharmacuetical companies....**** it, this shit makes me too flustered to think. I just want to fucking punch somebody when I think of all this bullshit.

Do you know what the price to produce most medicines is??
Compared to what people pay in this country?

Doesn't matter, like I said, when China decides to cut their currency away from the US dollar, the US will become the new India. Sure...we may start out with TV's and ipods and all that shit, but when the time comes, what are people going to do, eat their laptops?!!

The next great depression, or the third world war....who knows which one will come first...and if we do survive...we still have global warming and fucking air pollution to look forward to, and no health insurance or social security to save us when we're old.

Exactly. Most of the lower class people in this country (or any other), unfortuantely, can't think beyond surviving, they don't generally put money away and save it, do you know what they do when they get a little extra money, take their families out for dinner or buy things that they usually couldn't in order to keep their family sated.

Instead we indoctrinate competition and the idea of social darwinism (the new Calvinism) into the minds of the youth of the poor.

We have now a generation that is so jaded, so completely lost in the Capitalist machine, that it makes complete exploitation ENTERTAINMENT!
Take a look at these, Jerry Springer, Fear Factor, Girls gone Wild....
nothing but prostitution on different degrees, and sooner, not later, will snuff and rape films become the goddamn status quo (so long as it doesn't involve the priveledged class).

Every successful revolution has sprung out of the middle class...because we can think and we want to work to change our futures...we have that little luxury of time and meditation that the lower part of the proletariat does not.

And every single one has came up short of it's expectations.
Socialism turned into a monster. Communism failed, or mirrored the socialist's plight. (shit happens, who knows, what may have initially started as good intentions may have become simple propaganda for would-be dictators, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.)

The whole concept of civilization is about due for the scrap heap...we need more goddamned options, and the will the wrest ourselves from not only our oppressors, but from the goddamned greed inherent in ourselves.
We need a society run by asthetic monks, who are experts not at accumulating wealth, but distributing it equally and justly, so that education, health, poverty and welfare, justice, and even technology can be benefited.

But...that's not going to happen, which is why I'm a nihilist. I do what I want, and I hope not to get caught, taxes are paid in the hope that perhaps somebody else will get a better future out of it...what a naive and sad hope...but it's what I have.

No more faith in humanity...just faith in myself. People are fucked, bro...
I can tell you stories about depravity and decadence that will turn your stomach and tear at your heart.

improper handling of a wartime situation. When else has a president declared war at the same time giving a tax cut...at the time of a national crises that caused a decrease in consumption and threw us into an even greater glut and trade deficit.
