  • Fake Terror?

I have a question. Please just ride with me on this.
Ever hear of fake terror? The oldest trick in the book. When you have no enemies...create them.

-Remember that when Crassus tells you that Spartacus approaches.
-Remember that when thugs in the streets act in a manner clearly designed to provoke the public fear.
-Remember that when the Reichstag burns down.
-Remember that when the President lies to you about weapons of mass destruction.

I know I'm going to be hated for asking this question. I know people are going to but heads, but lets keep this a debate, not an argument.

Lets discuss the possiblity of this happening in Louisianna.

Why if there's only one road out of the state is it blocked by guard dogs and armed men? Why is their no aid? Does it make sense that people are shooting rescue helicopters? So many things seem off base with this particular insident. Is it possible that this is fake terror? After all; what else makes sense?

I'm not saying Bush is Hitler.
below is a quote from that article.

So, here we are today. Like the Romans of Crassus' and Cicero's time, or the Germans under a newly elected Hitler, we are being warned that a dangerous enemy threatens us, implacable, invisible, omnipresent, and invulnerable as long as our government is hamstrung by that silly old Bill of Rights. Already there have appeared articles debating whether or not "extraordinary measures" (i.e. torture) are not fully justified under certain circumstances such as those we are purported to face.

As was the case in Rome and Germany, the government continues to plead with the public for an expansion of its power and authority, to "deal with the crisis".
Do you think it's possible that things are going the way they are to allow the government more control over the states? Maybe to the point to where the government can force evacuations or dictate a states actions during emergencies? It's a big stepping stone, and worthy of discussion.

In the article, historical persons/governments have created situation where they could come out looking like a hero and then gain power.
In the katrina situation, the bush administration is variously being described as incompetant, disinterested, or 'slow to react' at best. The argument doesn't follow. Fighting terrorists, maybe; but that isn't the posit of the thread.
