  • A look into the name Gracie...

Ok so how does this work, this has confused me for the longest time. Ok in Portuguese the "R" has an "H" sound. So "Royce" becomes "Hoyce. How come "Gracie" is pronounced the way it is and not "Ghacie" or something?

Hats heally hilly! Gahacey is the hay hou'd p-honounce it if you hanted to get hoked out by Hoyce. Hair's hust too hany of hem!

Portuguese "r" is pronounced "h": 1. at the start of a word, 2. in the middle of a word if it comes after "n". Otherwise it's like the English "r".

Then again, regional differences come into play too.

Hmm that explains a lot. Thanks assepish! So a name like Rorion would be pronounced "Horion" then right?

It's a bit funny that most people who know of Royce know that it should be pronounced "Hoyce", but nobody (non-Brazilian anyway) that I know pronounces Ronaldo as "Honaldoo".
