Originally posted by Dim Wit MocPlease read Matthew 7: 22, 23. Jesus has some sobering words for the "Christians" you are talking about. I was one of them for quite some time. I had to repent, and walk the real Christian path or I would have been on the goat side at God's judgement.
You are living the Bible without cramming anything down anyone's throat.
But don't judge others either...
1"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
This is why I can get along with so many different kinds of people. There's a need for discernment, i.e. not doing what someone else is doing because of differing beliefs, but by letting people be, assisting them and treating them kindly, you are enlisting God's word.

Unfortunatley this example shows up in many other religions that were around looooong before christianity. Like Taoism.
This is also something you shouldn't need to be told. It's a complicated flowery way of saying "Offer help to someone and if they turn you down, mind your own business."
Minding your own business will keep you out of ALOT of trouble. God shouldn't have to tell you to mind your own business you should be smart enough to figure that out for yourself.

is it not true that the gospels in the new testament have been heavily edited by religious officials many years ago? and that they decided to only include the gospels they wanted into the new testament and disregarded earlier and more reliable gospels they felt werent up to their standards?
and the muslims stress that the Quran has never been edited or changed by man, yet it is well known that Uthman had collected multiple versions of the Quran and he chose which one was "the correct one" and had the rest destroyed.
i heard a quote that was something to the effect of " The problem with devine revelations are that humans have to interpret them".
i just hope i dont up displeasing Him because i wasnt able to find the "right" religion in my search for His foregivenessi mean shit, am i lost because i wasnt baptized? or am i really going to burn in hellfire because i have an occasional beer or eat a hotdog?
im just going to stick to the core concepts of these two religions for now, and learn as much as i can about them. the qualities stressed in both religions are the same, belief in god, begging for his foregiveness, being humble and kind to all and showing mercy to others.
"He who has in his heart as much faith as a grain of mustard seed will not enter hell, and he who has in his heart as much pride as a grain of mustard seed will not enter paradise." -Muhammed

Stress
Emptyness seems to me that religion is causing you alot of undue stress and nervousness. You should follow those of us who have decided that we can think for ourselves. You kow the people who don't need a million year old dusty arcane tome to tell us how to live.
Use your head man ALL and I mean ALL religions are just a way to get you to be controlled by your rulers. Religion sets the parameters for how you live where you live and how you treat other people.
Doesn't make you mad to know you are being manipulated like cattle and what's worse you're out there defending the people who are using you and screwing you.

when i really took a look around me and the society i live in and saw just how meaningless the things we hold to be most important are, thats when i felt in my heart there had to be something more; something that is ever present yet unseen.
and how am i being manipulated and not thinking for myself when im not actually a part of these religons, but i am instead taking a very critical look at each and trying to learn what i can?

I'd like to clarify that I do believe there is a god like entity that governs the world we live in. i just understand that it's something i can't comprehend but I can still pay attention to hints from it.
I agree the way most people live is horrible and wrought by manipulation. i am glad you realize the world we live in today isn't right. I agree with that 100%.
I hardly leave the house other than to go to work or the store because nothing outside my house intrests me. This is where I train eat sleep and live. I can do everything I want here. Plus i am a poor mofo so I can afford to stay home.
However I feel religion is under that catgorey of manipulation. Believing in something you yourself feel is right is one thing. needing any "Holy Book" to tell you leads to manipulation. Any organization that gives another human power over groups of other people is subject to corruption. people will eventually ruin anything made with good intent that gives power or leads to wealth.
If people just told each other and passed it on to there kids, or passed a book around about living a good life that might work. When you get leaders who say whats right and whats not without letting the general people decide, then you can bend people to your way of thinking. Possibly without them even realizing it. That's what causes my problems with organized religion. it also gives some people the excuse that as long as they go to thier weekly ceremonies then they can do whatever they want the rest of the time.
If we just all would open our eyes and realize that most religions preach the same basic docturine and all the filler is just someone else's try at manipulating people to thier ends by using god, maybe we could start to have a better world.
Money and power corrupt all things and leave them tainted in the end.

I never had god follow me around a forum before.
It's kinda uncomfortable having god up my ass all the time since I'm not used to playing grab ass like a wrestler.
Contribute or go away but stop hijacking my thread with your professional assclownery. the adults are trying to have a conversation little boy.
