  • World's religious situation

CAUTION: If you are offended by religious views other than your own do not read this post. This is not intended as a joke or a flame on any religion this is just a personal observation, not an attack on anyone's belief system.

If my understanding is correct, the Christians believe that anyone who is not of thier faith will burn in "Eternal damnation and pain in the lake of fire under Hell where the worm dieth not..." .

That sounds about as bad as it gets, right?

The Muslim faith believes something fairly similar.

So if the worse thing in the world you can do is send someone to eternal damnation far away from the glow of thier loving saviour......then let him know what the deal is and he can see the threat himself; if he ignores you let him die and go to Hell...Worst thing you could do to the poor bastard right?

So why do all the religions feel the need to cram thier dictum down everyone elses throat with fire and swords? Why can't they just advertise?

"Believe in this or when you die you'll suffer forever." Pretty sturdy threat I'd say. Then people can decide on thier own and nobody has to die to be right. Why's this so hard to grasp for the World's religious leaders?

I'm not religious, so I don't have faith in anything as such......
More a secret hope that those who deserve their buttocks prodded with red hot pitchforks for eternity, get what's coming to them.

The truth will set you free... free from the fears of religous dogma.

The living are aware that they will die, the dead are aware of nothing.

      Ecl.9:5

Would you please expound upon this scripture Tant. What made you choose this specific one?

And who would be the judge and jury over whose butts deserved poking... you? I'm sure that someone somewhere would want your butt on a pike as well. Using your logic, we should all be doing the pitch-fork dance. Which, by the way, isn't all that different from Christianity.

            Not at all.
I find it more productive to work on doing the right thing myself, rather than 'seating' in judgement on others.

There are some definite lines to be drawn there.

Murderers, rapists, child molesters might spring into the No Question-'red hot pokers up the poop pipe forever' category, whereas car jackers and burglars get a friday off maybe?
Punishment should fit the crime, so perhaps something else entirely, is required for Turd Burglars?

              The word

See even the word religion pits people at each others throats about nothing even remotley significant to a living soul.
Yes there are some people who most definitley should be doing the pitch fork dance as you guys have put it. But thats to the extreme on one side. Mother Teresa would be the other extreme.

What about all you guys stuck in the middle. Do you kill for your god or do you wait it out and have "faith" in your god.

                The "Kingdom" of God.

The topic you posted about the scriptures... "Hell" = the grave.
I don't buy into the hellfire doctrine... (see: Platoism) There are things that are symbolic and there are things that are real.
The dwelling place of God is with mankind... not the other way around. God created the Earth to be inhabited by mankind. That's why the Kingdom of God is the Good News about Christ the King. It's coming HERE!

                Mat 6;9,10.

The punishment for sin is death, not eternal torment. We do not have eternal souls that live on after we die, we ARE living souls so when we die our thoughts do perish. The only hope we have for life after death rests in the resurrection.

                  Very nice

                  Thank you for that clarification.

But I'd like to know why all the killing over whose god is the right god?

The whole world is lying in the hands of the wicked one. (the devil) 1st John 5:19 The religions of the world do the will of the devil. Christianity is particularly guilty and can be considered a great harlot (Babylon the great) and is especially worthy of destruction.

Judgment is coming so get out (of her) while you can!

The threat of eternal torment is not GOOD The promise of eternal life in paradise IS GOOD. God is GOOD.

If the good news (about the Kingdom of God) is hidden, it is hidden from those that will perish. 2 Cor 4:3

                      Very nice

That is a spin on religion I have heard before, but you know when you're a kid they tell you santa and the easter bunny are real too. And the sick part is as a kid we all believe it

I don't not believe in something like a god, we didn't get here on our own or by accident. I just don't buy anything organized religion trys to sell.

So organized religion is run by the devil's people and not really by god's people?

                          In closing...

It is scripturally (Biblicly) correct. Jesus himself condemed the Jewish religious leaders of his day when he told them that they made the word of God invalid because of their TRADITIONS. Mt. 7:13 He told them that they were doing the will of Satan the devil John 8:44 , etc...

Further it is important to understand (if you believe in the Bible) the importance of the name of God. Mat 6:9, John 17:3
Some might say all important. For this reason above all others it is a way to IDENTIFY the God if the Bible. Jesus made that name known. John 17:6

Not all those saying "lord", "lord" will be saved but the ones doing the will of the Father will (be saved). Mt. 7:21
What is God's will? That all those worshiping Him should worship in spirit and in TRUTH. John 4:24 Not so difficult to understand, eh?.

No santa, no easter bunny. Lies, all lies!
