  • Concert going story

okay, funny or sad story, I don't really know, Just shows i'm getting old.

Anyway, I went to a concert lastnight, 4 bands. Whole Wheat Bread, Streetlight manifesto, MxPx and Reel Big Fish.

Really went to see reel big fish, but before the concert as we parked, we started walking into the concert. About halfway to the venue, I realize I'm still armed. So I had to take a trip back to the car to dispose of the "tools" I was carrying. Anyway, as we head back to the car, We run into some guys, walking from the trailers in back towards the venue. They looked at us, and I nodded and smiled. and continued on to my car.

Well, guess who i just pretty much blew off. Mxpx. They have a few song I like but I never really get all the interested in the personalities behind music or movies. Deep down I had a feeling that it was them.

As we approached them they probably thought we'd ask for autographs or something as they did somewhat acknowledge that us as we approached, they probably were like WTF? as we walked by without really saying anything to them.

Then It was late and had work today, so we didn't go hang out with the band after the show.

    Anyway there is my story

I bought a t-shirt and a cd from Praga Khan at a Lord's of Acid concert and didn't even recognize him...just the transaction, and went off to listen to the band. D'oh!
I did get the chance to sit and shoot the shit with some of the guys from KMFDM when I was younger...but, my pops was there too, so it was a bit awkward.

so if this is gonna turn into a "how I met the band" thread....

Alice Cooper's Billion Dollar Babies Tour. 1974

My agency sent me out to a hangar at MIA to guard a private plane (insurance requirement). I was kinda bummed out 'cause I had to work the night before instead of going to the concert.

I get to the hangar and there's a white DC10 with a red dollar sign painted on the tail. I didn't think anything about it at the time.

After hanging out there for a while all by myself, black limos start pulling up and a bunch of midddle-aged Hollywood types start piling out. Then the circus acts; There's a very tall spaced-out girl carrying a very large boa constrictor. There's a bunch of "long-hairs". There's a midget (seems like there's always a midget!). There's a bunch of "muscle guys". Then there's the band, Alice and Neal and Glen and a bunch of other guys.

The plane hadn't been prepped for boarding so they all hung around for about an hour, waiting. I got to play poker with some of them and before they left they gave me a whole bunch of tour junk (posters, and pins and stickers and pillows and concert magazines and a record album). They kept calling me Wyatt Earp 'cause I was uniformed and armed that day...

Man...when I went here in SLC, it was Incubus, the soundgarden/rage crossover band who I forget the name of, JURASSIC 5 (can I get a hell yeah?!), and my favorite, JANE'S ADDICTION. Perry Farrell is fuckin' awesome...Dave Navarro is cool, but Perry is da shit!

That was my last month in highschool...damn, I wish I would've had the balls to have had a good time at that. (my highschool did random drug tests)
