Aseep - Yes sambal goes on almost EVERYTHING I eat (scrambled eggs, hamburgers, steaks...you name it).

I've got a recipe for homemade pindasauce using p-nut butter, lime, ketjap manis, cilantro, garlic and a few other secret ingredients.

One of these days this summer I'm going to make my own, score me some banana leaves, coat some fish fillets with sambal, wrap them up with the leaves, and toss that on a grill.

Note: I love all of the food in the poll. If I had to choose just one - say for a last meal, I'd be in serious serious trouble.

This is my favourite commercial sambal. It's from Singapore, but I've found it in local Chinese shops.

I am VERY familiar with teh Oelek.

I remember one instance in Singapore where one of the bars had a "nasi lemak" night where some of the Malay staff brought over some home-made sambal. It took me over an hour to eat ONE bowl of coconut rice that had about two table-spoons of the stuff on it. Hottest stuff I had ever tasted at that point.

It was bite-recover-bite-recover-bite-recover... but it was soooo goood.
