  • Injury... day one.

As minor as it may seem I dislocated my left shoulder today. Tripped over my shoe laces of all the stupid accidents I could have on a farm.

A couple guys at work tried to put it back in place before I went to the ER.

What a lot of hoopla over a dislocation! IV, Sedation, procedure... sheeesh!

Anyway... I just took off the sling. It feels sore but not uncomfortable unless I move it or use it. The range of motion is very limited right now but it feels better with a tiny bone chip than it did out of it's socket! aren't X-rays cool?

    LOL

I'm just waiting for the narcotics to wear off to see if I need my pain pills...

What a waste of a day!

    Stay safe folks!

Things happen, what can you do. Glad to here it wasn't worse.

I separated mine playing sandlot football about 7 years ago.

It sucks. Just make sure you give it plenty of time to heal.

Okay... So, I'm a lousy patient! The first rule in the post procedure instructions (after the warning about the narcotic meds) is to leave the sling ON! Do not remove the sling! Then there was the ICE therapy. Every two hours in the first twenty four. OOPS. Live and learn? It doesn't feel THAT bad...

Cooling the injury to your connective tissues prevents swelling that can cause pain and immobility.

I should not be testing my range of motion or pain tolerance so soon after the procedure! Paint me the dumb ass! LOL This morning after I couldn't tie my own shoes or get the child proof cap off the medicine bottle I decided I should read those instructions! LOL

I did call to get a follow up appointment with an orthopedic specialist!

Still don't understand why it's so "serious"?

You can do damage to your rotator cuff, and then need orthoscopic surgery.
