I make some cajun dishes. I used to make crawfish eutouffe which happens to be my favorite and I think it is one of the best dishes I have ever eaten anywhere. I make a little gumbo and stuff like that too.

Actually service in Europe sucks compared to US standards.
Reason being Europeans go to resturaunts to enjoy good food - not for the atmosphere or to be emotionally pleased by a waiter.

Portions are a little smaller....uhhh milk shakes??
Steak is called beef-steak; its a different cut and is marinated in a completely different way.

Damn, you have never had gumbo??? You need to carry your ass on over to south Louisiana and come on a taste testing mission. Gumbo kinda looks like a brown soup with different stuff in it. I kinda like it with chicken and sausage. Some people like the seafood with like shrimp and crab and stuff in it.......it is really good.

Well actually Cajunfood is imported too

Not a lot of foods are real inventions of the US but we wouldn't be eating them worldwide without the US
If you look at McDonalds you see that they mainly variate the burger and the only exceptions are localized, in Holland we have a MvKroket
Tom Yum might be able to explain what a Kroket is because I don't have any comparison
In Ireland I saw somethig that looked like a hotdog but whit a big sausage (which looked like it was roasted)

But rarely have I seen some new kind of snack

Tom Yum do you think dutch snackbars offer a lot of varation compared to several other countries? Or is that just my misconception and haven't I visited the right places in other countries?

That is the first time I heard this.......In case you don't know south Louisiana is inhabitted almost entirely by cajunfrench...there descendants came from France so it would stand to reason that if cajun food is imported than it would come from france.........French people don't eat cajun food........very interesting.

We have steak but I have no clue what a kidney pie is.

Hey Tody, I would say that Dutch snackbars are about the same as a small town US snack bar; except you can't get frikandel or patat oorlog - you can get burgers and other fried snacks. We don't have shwarma, but we have great Mexican food in Texas but god-awful Italian food. I recommend Chicago or perhaps Manhattan for Italian.

BTW in England food is quite pricey! Do things get more espensive if you cross the Thames...lol.

Tody, have you been to the Chinese dim sum buffet in North Damrak ( 8 Euros - all you can eat). American eateries are like that, depending on the menu - like Mexican, Barbecue, Seafood etc.. I used to hang out at Ter Kuilen? on Friday afternoons - lots of vriendelijk meisjes, ja?

In England food is expensive especially London so you need to come to Wales & eat some real food (Sheep).

I saw a show on Scottish cooking; they deep fried everything - a Mars bar, Sandwhich etc.
