  • Judo bozos and suckups

I am willing to discuss Judo as it pertains to classical versus modern training I feel that I am able to point out the obvious failings of U.S.Judo and the miserable showings in olympic competition. I feel very strongly that there is alot wrong with the way it is taught and administered all the way from the top down.
I feel that the very basics are not taught properly as a whole in this country and that the emphasis on tradition and cultural aspects keeps people from improving and and helps explain the backwardness of this superior martial art. I do feel that judo is superior as a fighting method and that so called Brazilian jujitsu is just old style judo the way it was 100 years ago originally before it was improved to make the modern sport of today. I have seen it in a alot of Jujitsu wannabees, tne winging it in the so called teaching methods. And I think that the proof would be that any time someone is thrown (rare occasion) in the UFC"s they get a standing ovation! Anybody wants to argue ,my point is that the emphasis on bowing and kow towing is ridiculus maintained by the politicians and power grubbers to try to maintain somekind of brainwashing effect on their students! Whether it be to have someone call them "Master" Which should be repugnent to any American , Let alone black people! But take your average Scrappy wrestler type and tell them they gotta bow to any body! I would like to end this by saying that it isn't a hard concept the way to teach Judo OR dynamic movement and that is teach it the way it actually happens (Video tape ,pictures etc.) do not teach it standing still or use analogies of sticks and boxes. These are simple concepts and they are certainly not my original ideas!

How come the japanes and koreans do so well in internation competitions? They are all about traditions.. abeit the koreans are about traditions + "we need to beat the japanese in their own sport".

Dude Judo came from Jujitsu. So did Brazilian Juijitsu.. It's just that Brazilian Juijitsu evolved as a street martial art not a sport.

Ok this is nonsense. Many black martial artists have no quams about being called or calling their instructor "master".

          Kevin,
Please, don't be shy, tell us how you really feel.

In the future, post an introduction before coming onto the forums and complaining. People tend to pay more attention to you when you don't begin your membership bashing bashing something.

On the contrary, I totally appreciate Kevin blowing his entire wad in one post. Now I really don't have to read anything more from him to completely understand what's going on....

                Kevin,
How about I sit back and delete your posts? Sound good? It's obvious that you have a beef with the way that Judo has gone in this country, but try to settle down, dude.

                Jules,
Old-style Judo was more of a 'street' martial art than BJJ is--More atemi and less safety. Not that either of them are really 'street' martial arts.

The japanese and koreans practice customs and traditions that are culturaly appropriate to their societies For example you probably shake hands as a greeting you don't bow in western culture They don't try to teach their judo team members in a foreign languagenor expect them to practice foreign customs. They havn't been doing all that well either note the rule change giving only five seconds to effect a holddown or arm bar or srangle it used to be that you would go tuntil some one won now they stand you up after five seconds thia is because the russians and east europeans were beating them on the ground at their own game!

How come the gracies haven't been in the olympics It's because they have tailored the game to their own form of fighting They certainly didn't invent jujitsu they were taught by japanese immigrants Look for a book called Kano jujitsu alot of the jujitsu guys havn't even heard of it Alot of this stuff is as old as human kind "nothing new under the sun" it's just how the human body works!

Slavery was and still is despicable. I in no way mean to denigrate anyone who has been oppressed. The obvious refreance to calling any one maste rneeds no explaining Also within the concept of judo Shinto religion is where the bowing in judo comes from The other day on the history channel the "Cult of the Sun" Shinto was referred to as an extreme form of facism and racism. The trophies that are handed out in judo contests are a copy of a shinto shrine. Shinto was the official religion of the japanese govermant for 150 years and culmanated in World War Two That why they treated other people so badly especially our troops who surrendered(* Bataan death march) You have to remember that all martial arts started out as religous cults and people still try that same crap today

I was under the impression the JuJitsu and BJJ came from Judo, not the other way around. I could be wrong, if so please enlighten me. And BJJ is without a doubt a sport.

I always, and still see bowing, or any salutation as a form of respect in the same way you address someone as, "sir" or "mister" . A bow is like shaking hands with someone. I can't see how that promotes fascism.

Besides, the martial arts does give you a brief overview of the customs involved in other cultures so I can't see how that can be racist. I'm sure a lot of people start martial arts like Judo because of their interest in Asian culture.

When you say 'Judo' and 'bozo' aren't you just being repetitive?

                            Poopy is the perfekt example....

I don't call anyone master, grandmaster or anything of the sort. Unless it's Bitty. And we're playing "good cop, bad cop".

I've never called anyone master in Judo. Maybe Kevin just belongs to a bad club/dojo.
