Hear is a site to visit about MACV/SOG.

I've met one of these guys living in the Philippines... he was a former green beret I think... his contract didn't allow him to stay in a fighting unit more than three years and he became an MP afterwards in order to be able stay in Vietnam...
If I am right this program had it's roots in the anti huk counterinsurgency measures taken in the Philippines after WWII..... The (mostly corrupt) filipino army is taking the same measures against filipino groups opposed to the governement .....

Yes I don't think you should run if you see a bear, he may take it as a sign of weakness and see you as a prey.....

I think mountain lions would try to attack the neck and it should be protected, maybe kick/punch the cat on the nose-eyes if it attacks?, but this may not be easy....

alligators are really not aggressive. Crocs sure are. When I was and visted florida me and my causin threw rocks to try to get a alligator to move and it just sat there sunning itself, lol. I wouldn't go up and pet one or go near a mother alligator.

has any one had expeareance of warding off a dog in a reall atackif so how do you stop it . would a heavy walking stick stop it if used with stick fighting methods if so which which is best and do you have to kill the dog

how close do you let the dog get before you lash out
Two scenario, first the attack dog is a smaller dog but vicious. small dogs will always attack & bite the legs first. Defense, easier to defend against small dogs give it a good powerful kick. Second scenario, the dog is bigger, usually big dogs will luanch at you aiming for the throat. Defense, in both instances this is where your martial art instinct have to react automatically. Dogs or animals usually will growl to show intimidation & most of the time when a person make an attempt or motion to go down & grab a rock at the same time growlling back load at the dog the dog usually will back off. But in some instances that doesn`t work, so once the dog is up in air steady yourself plant yourself firmly on the ground in a fighting stance ( sam chien beh poh) & use your one arm to parry or grab the dog from beneath his jaws away from you & use the other arm & deliver a powerful punch into his chest, mouth, throat or rib area then follow it up with a kick accompanied with a loud & threatening KIAAA!!! Dogs usually will back off against a more aggressive animal ( thats` us ). And if the dog still keep coming back at you then, try to get into the back of the dog ride it like a horse. Using your knees & legs lock into the dog & use your other arm to hold down the dogs face, then again with a powerful downward blow punch the dog either at the neck area, head or if you can hit his nose much better just watchout for the dogs fangs ( front tooth). In NCK this technique is call SANG KAW HO KUN.

But first thing is to look around see if you can grab a weapon, a stick, rock, anything to whack the dog with.

My expereince so far is going down for a rock & it always work for me.

They actually do all those stuff that you imagine, they can deliver 4 quadruplet kicks, they can use dog-round house kick, & most of all they can bite like Tyson. And you can bet they`ll take not only your ears but they`ll refigure your ass.

I didnt read pg 4 or 5 so sorry if i say something already said.

                Concerning the Puma:

Near where I live in a river valley a mountain lion cornered a boy and got on top of him, but his father and a friend came out yelling and kicked it a couple of times and it took off. Not sure if that tells you much as I dont know if it was male, female cub or adult, the article didnt say. Also Ive heard from several sources that you are supposed to hit the nose and the eyes of a puma if you have to defend yourself. Also your not supposed to run as they will catch you like nothing(unless your gold medalist 100m sprint in olympics .) Anyways, I hope i said something not said before

Concerning the puma you better take a weapon, even a rock or stick if you see one stalking you.... shout, throw rocks, appear bigger to show you are not a prey... in case he attacks protect your neck, that's where he is likely to strike.

                          As a side note:
Pitbulls, AM Staffordshire Terriers and other Bully breeds really do get a bad rap. The breed themselves are very devoted family dogs, especially to children. It's just irresponsible owners, and dumbass drug dealers who train them to be that way. Back in the 1800's when they were bred for fighting, they were also bred to be docile to people. The handlers needed to be able to go in and take them out of the fight with out the dog turning on them. Any dog that bit the handler/owner was immediately taken out of breeding (and usually put down). They developed them to have a high prey drive toward animals not people, which is why for the most part, you can't have them with other animals (there are exceptions). They were the most common family dogs in the early part of the century in the U.S
                          .

This guy has done his homework. Fighting dogs, if they bit a person were destroyed. They would not be allowed to breed.

The 2 dogs that killed the woman in her hallway were not mastiffs, or bulldogs. They were Cane Corso's http://www.canecorso.org/ a known human aggressive dog.

As breed-specific laws against Pittbulls enter communities, the irresponsible people that caused the issue just go out and get bigger, meaner dogs. The Cane Corso is starting to become a very popular breed.

Dogs are usually bred to either be animal aggressive (Terrier like breeds) or Human aggressive (watch-dogs) many problems occur when these breeds are mixed. You can end up with a dog that hates everything.

Against a dog that really wants to attack you, I have found that turning on the dog, yelling, and ready to kill the dog is usually deterent enough for him to run away with tale tucked between his legs. I have always had very large dogs, so seeing a dog smaller than mine trying to attack me just pisses me off.

Now if the dog was too large to kill, like a bulldog. I always thought that I'd pick it up and break its back over my knee, though I've never had to try this sort of thing. I know I would get bit at least once, but the dog would be dead, while I was at the hospital. Things could get worse, but I would not mess around with trying to blow pepper up its nose or anything like that. I would try and kill the dog as quickly as possible, and explain it later. I have seen aggressive dogs attack, you are usually not going to be able to even stun them with a baseball bat, let alone a punch or a kick. It is best to intimidate them to not attack you. Just remember you are bigger, stronger, and smarter than the dog (I hope) The dog knows that too, as long as you are not afraid.

My dog does back-flips for treats. I have seen him come down and hit his head on the arm of my couch, and a solid wood coffee-table before. He doesnt even notice.

With the cougars. There are places that raise cougars to be pets. Many times these cougars have been domesticated for 10 or more generations, with each generation being hand-fed. These cougars are not the same as finding a kit in the woods and raising it. I am assuming that this is the type of cougar they have. A friend of mine used to raise domestic cougar, and you do need a license. If one were raised by humans and then released, it would not have the normal instinctive fear of humans and may actually be more inclined to attack than a wild cougar.

I didnt know what you could do to fight off a mountain lion if it attacked you. So I found this.
Heres everything about a mountain lion

If all else fails, forearms smash 22:1 hit ratio and finish them with flying butterfly kick to neck.

                          my $.07

Basically you don't want to admit that pit bulls are more vicious and pose much more of a threat than other breads of dogs. Yeah there are other bigger more vicious bread, but they are a drop in the bucket compared with pits.
Just because a dog looks like a pit, does not mean it is a pit. If the dog is not purebred (papered) it is a mutt, just like most dogs. You cant really make owning a mutt illegal. I have always raised dogs. Old English sheep dogs, Pits, Malamutes, Chows, mutts. Many different types of dogs. Why say that one type of dog is the most viscous when facts point otherwise. Just because you are more afraid of one breed than another, does not make that breed more viscous. Most people cant even tell the difference between and american staffordshire, English staffordshire, or an American Pitbull Terrier; Most people would claim all as being pits.

I dont usually walk around with a long staff. Where I live, walking around with a long staff would only invite trouble or the police. I'm sure it would work if you had the luxery. But intimidation has always worked so far. I try to get away If I can, at least off its territory, but you cant outrun a dog. And if a dog does attack you, report it. In the US, Once a dog attacks 3 times they are put down.

But I do agee that living with a cougar would just be STOOOPID.
