im to tired to read the whole damn topic but to everyone that thinks tkd is useless why is it one of only two MA's they teach to the marines.

but before you start saying a bunch of crap I will admit there is a WHOLE LOT of people out there that dont know how to use tkd effectivley. it all depends on the instructor and the student

Well let's think about it, a shrink who spends his time listening to a mother complain about her bad children who occasionally miss homework assignments and don't obey like robot, starts to get bored and burnt out. With time they start to hope that they get to deal with a real Hannibal Lecter. So if a mother who is mentally unstable herself claims her child is "crazy" because they won't obey the shrink will go nuts and do the following;
- Try to get the child locked up
- Refer the child to a psychopharmacologist who drugs the child
- Will lead the child along with the drug shrink that he/she is crazy
- Eventually the mind altering drugs start to build in the child causing psychotic behavior
- The child starts to believe he/she is crazy and a bad person and starts to hate himself/herself for what he/she has become

At this point the child is lucky if he/she figures out that they drugs are poisoning him/her and gets off them. Typically this isn't the case and the child becomes a drug dealer who will ultimately end up in prison for drug sales. That is if the child hasn't ended up dead as the result of psychotic behavior or become a murder suspect.

Hey H2H - you are missing quite a few steps here. Even if a parent did what you claim the child would need to undergo counseling a psychiatrist as excessive force stated could prescribe the drugs. There is no such position/title as psycho pharmacologist. Psychopharmacology simply deals with the understanding of psychotropic medications. A psychiatrist needs to evaluate a patient to confirm a diagnosis the diagnosis is not received second hand especially when that other person is not a licensed mental health professional. If the above story is you then I think you have allot of anger and maybe need a dose of reality try being empathetic look from the outside in instead of the inside out you may learn something about yourself.

Regarding IQ just study psycometry, psychometric testing are used as indicators, with validity on the extreme end of the pole not the middle. In other words extremely high or extremely low score can be predictors. It is only non-professionals that read more into the IQ test than should be the test was originally created for education to weed out students inferior students from those normal as inferior students would need "special education" as they were slower

Regarding intelligence it continues to be the most ill defined term is psychology. There are many types and definition of intelligence depending on which theorist you select eg spatial, inter/intrapersonal, etc. Typically society views linguistic intelligence the highest a person speaks well uses "big words" they must be smart or intelligent when that may not be the case.

I would have to say Tai Chi.

Tai chi means suppream ultimate. It represents everything that exists, wich came from the wu-ji, the void of potential. So to a person, tai chi is the live they lead, in accordance with the Tao. Qigong is the component movements and breathing. You cant do tai ch, you are tai chi. The fact is without the movements, you can still live a tai chi life. as for styles being better than this and that. I cant believe people still cling to such monotounous statements. You must think fighting is like painting a masterpiece, well its not it like hitting a nail into a plank of wood. If I told you I was a, karatea for example. You would come up with some kind of gameplan, and I would now have an advantage. I am fast but small, so if you come towards me I would hit you in the groin, poke your eyes, and when you hit the ground, I would stand on you and kill you. Because fighting is about, "how much you want to live", No matter who I was fighting I will not die, and I will commit fully.

It could also mean that Japanese criminals are more easily subdued than American criminals. There are cultural reasons to suspect that, at least in the past, this was true. American criminals are more often armed, more often violent, and probably more often on drugs than their criminal counterparts in Japan. It might not serve practical purposes. The cops themselves might prefer to train judo or jujitsu. We just don't know. But there mere fact an art is used under a specific circumstance (one police department in one town in one very homogenous country on an island) does not speak of its widespread applicability.

No, this is the most useless thread, lol. Japan has a high rate of serious armed crime, the japanese police are just effective thats all. In America the opposite is the case, Ive been to both places several times and I believe the japanese police had a better impression.
