  • BJJ? MT? what about WWE?

WWE has punches, elbows, knees, kicks, takedowns, throws, ground fighting, submissions, flying moves, weapons, team moves (moves that are performed by two or more people), strikes to vital areas and verbal escalation. It would be really good self defence if it was adapted a bit. Change the way they train and get rid of a few of the less effective moves (flips, picking people up then spinning round etc.). Is it really so ridiculous?

Change the way they train and get rid of a few of the less effective moves and it could be really good self defence.

People have said the same thing about TKD.

Each and everyone of those Pro Wrestlers could whupp almost anybody here.

Just coz they performing for shows it doesn't mean that they aren't as hard as nails.

if the average guy that posts is 180 lbs
and trains as a hobby and is not in great
shape and takes on a steroid induced 250 ++
lbs, athletic WWE star, I would not want to
bet against the WWE even if they have no
        submission skills.

Early japanese MMA events had a lot of Pro wrestlers, actually it is they who started it

The one important thing they have is they are trained to take a beating

Recently saw Pride 11, Goodridge against a japanese Pro Wrestler, even thought the wrestler lost, it was amazing to see him take hard uppercuts to the face and still carry on

OK my friend, how long do you think you would
              last with Brock ??
I saw one ring match video , where he slammed
his opponent on the head. Not the WWE, I think
it was a MMA event before he became famous.
He lost the match because the other guy did not
tap out and I think the other guy won by
points from strikes . That was a nasty suplex
              right on the guys head.

Also, being in excellent shape and able to take a beating is probably two-thirds of the way to being an effective Mixed Martial Artist.... Just look at the Sapp character.

I would agree, for the most part, that WWE guys are pretty tough. Most Pro Wrestlers are a lot bigger, stronger and more athletic than average martial artists. Aside from that, some guys like Brock Lesner and Kurt Angle were stand-out wrestlers in college and/or the Oympics. Put those ingredients together and you've got a big, skilled technician that can take a lot of pain... No way I'm messing with that.

I read Ken Shamrock comment of Pro Wrestling: "[Paraphrased] The difference between MMA and Wrestling is that with Wrestling, you trust your body to the athleticism and skills of another individual, whereas in MMA you're out to dominate with your skills..." - Ultimate Shamrock

I'm not especially a Sapp fan, I was just making a general point about physical conditioning and mental toughness being prime requisites for MMA or full contact fighting competitions.

                        Sapp is gay.

And I'd say it to his face.

And most people in and from New Mexico are gay.

                        'The Land of Enchantment' indeed!

Okay, I'm gonna go think of something really, really really, super-mean to say. Then you'll be sorry!

(Maybe I'll get some help from that Commie guy, Toudi-something)

                            Spanky is originally from CAFB.

If you know where that is then you'll know what he's talking aboot.

Don't go over to the dark side. You'll live to regret your communism. Just ask Toudi Froudi.

people like brok lesener and triple h jus wont last long if they faught in the MMA circuit. They dont know how a beating feels being in professional wrestling. They may be bigger but but a far as fighting goes they just aint experianced or used to what a MMA fightter has to offer.
