Even Eric Bischof has a black belt in Karate or something.
Pro wrestlers are trained in the art of fake fighting with techniques that would NEVER work in real life. Like jumping off of high areas and doing 3 flips and landing on their stomach with your stomach.
As far as Eric Bischof....I would love to fight him....I hope he can fight better than he can act.
As far as the moves like the belly to belly drop not being an effective move.......there was a tape that I saw years ago where one wrestler came off the top rope and did a belly to belly slam. The result was devastating being that it was done wrong. I don't know what happened but this guy starts spuing blood out like he was vomiting....it was crazy. It was just an accident that the guy did not do the move quite right, but that kind of stuff happens I guess.
As far as someone from here going against a pro wrestler.....lol.....yea right. You might be okay until they grab a hold of you and start tossing you around like a rag doll. I mean really think about this, these guys are for the most part all over 6' tall and most of them are pushing close to 300lbs. with very little body fat. These guys can probably lift small cars for crying out loud.
I would never want to fight with one of the WWE guys or one of those guys from THE WORLD'S STRONGEST MAN competition. That should be the next thread MARTIAL ARTS VS. THE WORLD'S STRONGEST MEN. LOL

I remember my Grandfather telling me about the time Muhammad Ali and some Japanese Pro-wrestler fought in a MMA-type event. The wrestler immediatly layed on his back and kicked Ali in the legs. Ali wasn't going to wrestler a wrestler and the wrestler (of course) wasn't going to box Ali. I think the match was a draw or something.

So is the point of this thread that being big and strong and a pretend-wrestler is a more viable means of self defense than a trained martial artist?
From all I've read, it almost seems like people believe that being 6'3", 250 lbs, a powerlifter and pro-wrestler who carries a pocket knife and broken glass ready to be strewn on the ground is the best self defense.
I am quitting BJJ and joining the nearest "Pro Wrestling Powerlifting Pocketknife Carrying Broken Glass Throwing Self Defense Academy"
I'll also probably sign up for their "One Punch Knockout, Pressure Point, and Crotch Grabbing" seminars, since of rouse, if you have those three things, you render your opponent useless anyways!!!!

I definately beleive in skill over power, but all I am trying to say is that if you get into it with one of those pro wrestlers don't let them get a hold of you. There are a few of them I feel confident I could beat down pretty easy but there are a bunch of them I would not give a cross look too. Then again I am not a 5'4" 150lbs. guy either.

I'm all for skill winning over power but there is a point where power can be so overwhelming that no matter how hard you hit him it ain't gonna do jack shiznatti. Unless its in the balls or some other little weak point but then again some of these guys get pretty used to getting their balls racked every other day and good luck poking them in the eye when they are almost a foot taller than you. Just try and take the legs out from under a man like the big show. He has tree trunks for legs. I couldn't take the man out even if I had a baseball bat with a nail in it.
