  • PLEASE ANSWER for the sake of short people

I have no experience in martial arts but I wouldn't mind taking up one. The thing is i'm quite short, 5 foot 3 inches, so my strength can never match someone who works out moderately . So either I learn a martial that suits my stature or carry a taser around with me :P . But seriously, seeing some martial arts like aikido makes me think I could mever make effectve use of thoes moves. For example, you wouldn't see a 5 foot 3 inches person giving a 7 foot person an effective uppercut.

I think a martial art suitable for me would make use of pressure points and using the opponents weight against them. whatever that might be. if mixing martial arts is needed, please advise.

thank you all in advance ^_^

For that kindof body style, a grappling art would be best. Shorter limbs and smaller body stature means a lower center of gravity, which gives you an edge.
Come to think of it, my wrestlin and judo coaches were all short, one of my judo coaches is your exact height.

I agree with BJJ, anything involved with grapples, joint locks and throws.

Hapkido, Hwarangdo, Aikido, Jujitsu, Judo, Eagle Claw, Praying Mantis

....a few off the top of my head.
