Balance is an important factor. It's the platform we rely on to gain leverage - whether for striking, throwing or grappling. If you can take your opponent's balance then it will be very difficult for him/her to fight effectively.
Whether you're interested in sport fighting or self protection understanding balance disruption can improve your game. If you're a striker then having your opponent off balance means s/he can't hit you as hard and is more likely to be open for your own strikes. If you're a groundfighter then an understanding of balance disruption will make it easier to get your opponent to the ground.
No matter what your primary game or your intention in training an understanding of balance disruption is a valid tool that can help take your game to another level.
No experience necessary. We'll start with the basics and progress at a moderate pace.
I have over 30 years of martial arts experience and nearly 15 years of those devoted to systems that specialize in balance disruption - a second level instructor in Sikal, a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Shen Chuan and a 6th Degree Black Belt in Doce Pares Eskrima/Eskrido. Balance disruption was my primary tool for dealing with rowdy patrons when I was a bouncer.
