So......here we go again! I know Bill and Dennis personally. Served with them for about a year in 77. I also went on to being a drill NCO and unarmed combat instructor. Before joining the military, I already had been studying karate for 2 years, so when I was an unarmed combat NCO I combined my karate with what I was taught by Bill. However, I didn't come up with an elaborate name for my style of unarmed combat. I just used the generic term "Combat Karate." Nor did I get involved with MMA. I've found that the original styles of Defendu, Defendo, and Combato aren't all that different from what I study and teach for Combat Karate.
