My vote didn't mean jack squat in the last election. I live in a red[neck] state. I still vote every chance I get though.

speaking of voting, your opinion of the BS that went down in FLA?

When's the last time you put aside the drama-queen bit and got involved in politics if you didn't like the candidates you were seeing?

Found someone who stands for the things you believe in and supported them in their political careers? You know, there's a section on both the State Department and White House websites where any citizen can nominate someone for office. There are public speeches, local elections, and infinite numbers of opportunities on the internet to get involved in the process of electing officials and leaders. Not everyone in politics is morally bankrupt (though I'll agree, it is a remarkable majority) and it's up to an educated American populace to find and promote them.

I know what you guys are saying, and I don't entirely disagree. But it's so damned tiresome to see people complaining about the end result of a process that they refuse to participate in. Iraqis will risk death to vote in their elections, and your average patriotic American will support going to war and dying for their freedom to do it, and yet you'll play hell trying to find an American that can even tell you the name of their local Mayoral candidates, let alone the names of two or three politicians who might better represent them in the House, Senate, or elsewhere on Capitol Hill.

Here's an idea: There are a couple of years left before the next election. Do some research, find a politician or two that you think could/would make a difference for the better. There's a lady running for the Senate in Florida right now who has some good ideas (though her notion about requiring biometrics for foreign workers is a bit far-fetched). She supports gun rights, hunting, and most of the kinds of things you support, Boar, including responsible tax spending and budget cuts. She does like President Bush, so there's a possible demerit in your eyes, but the lady has potential. I'm sure there are one or two more out there someplace. Find them. Research some senatorial and congressional voting records. Find out who stands for what, and support the people you think will do this country some good. And if you don't think your vote matters, convince others to vote your way.

All I'm saying, guys, is that if it's important enough to complain about on a near daily basis, it ought to be worth getting involved in, don't you think?

(Jubaji, the "don't you think" part is largely rhetorical, as we are all aware that you try to avoid it whenever possible... )

Excellent post! (except that last part. I think that was an insult or sumtin)
