I'm currently in the hiring process with some police departments. Hopefully, I will get hired and become a police officer within the next year. I want to study a martial art that will help me in my profession. Here are some criteria that I have considered:
-It needs to be something that I can learn in a relatively short amount of time (something that takes 5 years to be descent would not work)
-some kind of grappling, takedowns, trips, locks
- I dont think i need something like a krav maga; these kind of arts might be too aggressive for this profession. I think an art that is more focused on incapacitated someone without seriously injuring would be good ( I might be wrong though). If I ever needed to use deadly force, I would use my firearm.
-i just started taking muay thai, so I'm not to worried about fitness or strikes
I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks for any help.
