Open Question: How Do I connect my 360 to my Philips DVD 5.1 Surround System?

So I bought a new Philips sound system from Costco. its a 5.1 surround sound system. Im looking to get the connection from my 360 with it, do I connect all the cables into the dvd portion of the sound system or is there a way to get the sounds from my tv to play. Currently I have my White/Red cable from the dvd/sound system then to my cable box. HDMI cable from dvd/sound system to tv. Xbox cables to TV. how can I make this work?
