    Steel bars exercise...

    2 length's of hollow pipe.
1 plate of steel...not too thick.
1 bag (for the hammer fist's).

Palm strike off the back hand, raise fist(inverted) whilst palm striking the steel bar.
..then hammer fist onto bag on top of steel plate.
You kung fu fist...phoenix eye fist with index knuckle protruding...tight fist!

The steel bar's are attached via a couple of chain link's to a frame.
The steel plate is in the middle.

You can palm strike twice...off the front hand then back hand then hammer
    fist etc..

You should have a look at the Punch/Block Power Charger at http://www.bushipower.com/pbpc.php. It has Japanese name equivalents there. The equivalent Chinese names are kunso and tetwan. You should also work the Iron Palm bag at http://www.bushipower.com/Merchant2/...egory_Code=AIP. Makiwara (muujon in Chinese) training is essential also.

I haven't read through the entire topic (so I dunno if this has been said yet), but slapping attacks are sometimes better than punches. A slap does not bounce energy back through to you, but punches do (that's why a powerful punch can hurt both the attacker & the victim). A powerful slap can inflict more stinging pain, and is thus more powerful in certain situations.

I'm a fan of the palm strike myself though.

I remember going bareknuckles a couple times with some guys that used to hang out with some of my pals. Man...I found that three things in particular that I didn't think would work actually did some pretty decent damage. A wing chun, jun fan type lop sao which I just kept repeating instead of trying for another move, a leaping right cross when they start to drop their guard (it's flashy, and FUN)...and a straight up slap, cupping my hand and firing it off like a hook. So far, I've had two kids actually took a knee from a slap...the bonus is...it hurts alot more than a punch because it covers more surface area, it may not do as much damage, but it stings...and there's minimal risk of me breaking a finger or a knuckle on somebodies dome...just food for thought.

Iron Palm training should not be done without proper instruction, you can seriously injure yourself if you do.

Also you can harden your fists by slamming them into peices of aluminum. It is a soft metal, so once you see your fist print completely embedded in the sheet of aluminumn you can stop for that day. Do this day after day after day.
                Maybe aluminimum foil.
How soft do you think a bar of aluminum really is?

Slaps work. Not only do they cover a wide area, they kind of surprise you a little bit more, and water up your eyes. I dont know if doing Iron palm would make your slaps any better than just practicing slapping on bags.

I too would be interested if anybody wants to post more information on ironpalm training. Also what's the difference between iron palm training, and iron palm conditioning?

                  Aluiminum

Great idea. Nobody said anything here about the thickness.

                    slappping

                    HandtoHand,
Brother a hard slap to your ear or groin would not phase you? Dude I was once slap silly by my cousin when we where younger and he was mentallly impaired. We where pretending to Box, I was fooling around with with my cousin just pretending to be Ali and Frazier, When suddenly out of excitment my mentally impaired cousin rush in to join the fun and slap me on face with lots of body weight behind it. Wow did I see stars! Little older in my early twenties just goofing around with some other martial artist. A philipine martial artist palm behind my ears and I was knock down not out and took a while for me clear my head. A good hard palm slap to the ears would really knock you silly no matter how tough or big you are.

                      I didnt bump it, but...

Wow... Under NO circumstance should you punch aluminum of ANY thickness.

Ironpalm CANNOT be learned/taught over the forums.

Slaps are fight enders. Especially slaps from Ironpalm people. Although silat and JKD have some NASTY slaps as well

IF your training impairs the function of your body then you are doing it wrong...Ironpalm does NOT damage the hands when PROPERLY trained and Dit Da jows and meditations are used.

Ironpalm DOUBLES your striking SPEED/POWER at close range in 4 months...its the fastest return for effort I have seen in 35 yrs of MA training

I've read before that you maintain five levels of Iron Palm which takes about an hour out of your day. Can you go into a little more detail about what "level" actually means in Iron Palm? Does it mean the type of break your doing or the part of the hand or arm that you use? Is the answer more simple like the higher the level the better breaker you are? Why do you have to maintain all five levels? Wouldn't just maintaining the highest level be enough?

I went to Lacy's site to find the answers first, but that guy is a much better breaker than he is a writer. I would like to learn more about this stuff; do you know if his dvds are any good? I can see from the breaks that he is good at Iron Palm but do his dvds teach as well as he can break?

Levels describe what type of breaking you train for...level one training teaches the break between 2 pillows, level 2 is under a towel, 3 is on the ground supported by your hand 4 is on the ground unsupported,5 is in your other hand....these levels go all the way to breaking cocunuts suspended in nets. Each type of iron palm seated (short power) standing (long power) and moving (shattering power) as well as vibrateing palm (water) all have levels of training as well...different types of training build different types of striking power...some styles destroy the meat inside the coconut without cracking the outer shell...others shatter the coconut instead of breaking it in half...each palm stresses different angles and power training...as for why not just practice the highest levels you attain....do you stop training every technique when you learn a more advanced one? me either Yes his videos teach the system pretty straight fowardly...i usually include my own family ironpalm in packages for people which smooths out a couple rough edges in lacy's videos ...if youre really interested in learning iron palm. pm me..

Iron Palm achieved with the right stuff...

Of course, technique is the number one factor here with Iron Palm! Part of this technique is conditioning yourself and your Chi for these kind of strikes -

Might I suggest a Dit Da Jow formula from IRONPALMARTS.COM

We will provide you with all the necessary information you will need regarding iron palm and iron body conditioning and training!

                                See ya there!
