  • ankle weights??!? GOod For TRaiNing??

    Hey guys(and girls), what is your opinions on the use of ankle weights. I have a pair of 5 lb ankle weights that i used to go running with. I was thinking of adding them to my plyometrics routine and maybe use them to strengthen my kicks. I heard of some chi kung practices where monks used lead weights while running and also to increase jumping height and leg power.

    DO THEY WORK? CAN THEY CAUSE INJURY? OPINIONS? FACTS?

    any knowledge would help THANKS!

    Hi,

    It's not a good idea to wear them running or for plyometrics. Those activities are already stressful enough on the joints. Squats, jumping squats and other exercises will increase your leg power more than ankle weights.

      Use ankle weight for Running, Abs Work, or Other Exercices, not for Plyometric exercices.

      You can use them on your wrist For Shadows Boxing, of Running. To Gain Some Endurance.

      But for kicking, it's not a good idea.
