tell me what you think guys. i'm aiming at optimal athlethic fitness with an emphathsis on combat/self defense/street fights ect..
before breakfast i do a half hour of cardio to lower my bodyfat count, either a 15 minute jog on my treadmill followed by a 15 minute walk while juggling and a gentle stretch or just a half hour walk. or maybe 10 run 20 walk it depends on my energy levels you know.
then 30 mins of with kick technique and application, balance exerices, leg stretches.
30 mins of punch technique and application, shadow box
cardio
4, 3 minute rounds of skipping
i ride my bike fast right after for about 4 minutes to a park by my house and i run for endurance and practice my footwork for awhile. 10 minutes some days an hour other days.
stretch
thats my morning workout...
at 5 o clock i start a strength workout that lasts about 40 minutes usually
consisting of
push ups (20) one minute rest/ gentle stretch...
flutter kicks (approx one minute)one minute rest/ gentle stretch...
one footed calf raises (15)one minute rest/ gentle stretch...
crunches spaced with situps (25)one minute rest/ gentle stretch...
alternate squats and jumping squats (20)one minute rest/ gentle stretch...
i do these 5 exercises again and when i finish my jumping squats, i rest for one minute and do the rountine again maxing out the reps for each exercise with no rest. this is fairly intense..
i go outside
chin ups one minute rest/ gentle stretch
pull ups one minute rest/ gentle stretch
chin ups one minute rest/ gentle stretch
pull ups one minute rest/ gentle stretch
chin ups one minute rest/ gentle stretch
light skipping. one footed skipping. towards the end i turn it up and burn out pretty good.
depending on energy levels i run up to a 20 minute endurance run and 10 minute walk or i interval training speed running with 5 minutes of fast running, 5 minutes walking, 5 minutes fast running, 5 minutes walking, 5 minutes fast running, 5 minutes walking
or 5 minute fast run spaced with 5 minutes of walking
some days i will spar my little brothers and their friend (8) (13) (14) years old and theyre tough kids. i take it easy on my little brother. but when i take on the 13 year old and his friend at the same time. its a battle. i learn some things from this. we beat each other up pretty good. its about an even match. im 18 by the way.
stretch
my calculated time is usually around 4 hours and 10 minutes to 4 and a half hours. more or less certain days..
some days.. not often due to the strain it puts on me hindering my other other agendas i alternate my strength program and load up my dad weights and do curls. bent back rows. bench press. squats. bar over head. a few calf raises. punch with the dumbells. a few different arm ones i dont remember.
i know that my martial arts training is limited as i am unemployed at the moment and without an automobile. i want to take muay thai, boxing(limited sparing, i want to reserve my braincells and just learn technique) learn a chinese art from a genuine school, and do aikido to refine the principal of harmony in my physical and intended movement, as well as other things. eventually doing some groundwork and whatever else i need to balance me. right now im basically trying to get into a peak physical form while i work the process of getting some money and a car (alot of shit happened and i ended up broke at my parents house) so i can take the classes, learn more. even though theres a tae kwon do school near my house that i might check out for the time being to learn some kicks and have some fun. i want to learn to concentrate among other people and spar.
i see so much represented in a physical fight and i really like to do this. i want to dedicate myself to the martial arts to challenge myself physically and mentally. if you seasoned veterans have any modifications or adjustments or general advice its much appreiciated. i know that my strength program is weak. but it does challenge my body, and although the exercises arent of the best quality. its allright for now. but i would like to change this soon. concentrating on better more strenuous movements, alterating upper body center and lower body to build an endurance of my strength. i dont know. what do you think?
