Could anyone explain the exercises Accelerations & Gutbusters, that Tim Mousel mentions in the appendixes of his article The Thaiboxing Workout: A Scientific Approach? I’ve googled this and found mostly articles on dieting or why it’s bad for your brain to bounce in your skull.

Accelerations & Gutbusters

Hi,
These are drills I made up while training for my Thaiboxing instructor test. The objective is to train the fast twitch muscle fiber and the atp-cp system which is very specific and important training as it focuses on the energy system used for short, high intensity flurries.
ACCELERATIONS 8 sec. easy, 8 sec. full speed, 24 sec. rest, 4 rounds. 1 minute rest
GUTBUSTERS 10 sec. full speed, 30 sec. rest, 4 rounds. 3 minutes rest
The drills are done on thaipads. For accelerations, kick two kicks each leg and then switch to the other leg. The first 8 seconds of the drill is done at an easy, moderate pace, the next 8 seconds are done at full speed.
Gutbusters are done full speed for 10 seconds. One kick is thrown on each side. Rest for 30 seconds between the 10 second rounds. That's a work:rest ratio of 1:3 which gives time for a lot of the ATP to regenerate and also helps prevent too much lactic acid and hydrogen ion buildup.
Hope that helps.
Tim
