  • Help Me Get Bigger

Hi, I'm new to these forums, just registered but I was lurking on them for a month or so

Anyway, I'm 15 (16 in 2 weeks), I'm about 5'8 or 5'9, and 130lbs. I want to get bigger. My body is mostly muscle as I'm young and I eat healthy (I haven't eaten fast food, chocolate bars, or really sugary stuff like pop for 6-7 months now), and I lift weights/work out regularly. Although I'd like to increase my muscle mass, I hear a lot of people on this board just say to eat a ton.

My biggest problem I think is that I go to school and it's harder to eat as much as I should be eating. I was thinking of taking 2-3 protein/energy bars to school, because I am pretty lazy when it comes to making things like lunches and what not, would this be worth it or no? Do any of you guys have any suggestions of how I can eat a lot but without making lunches if not necessary? The cafeteria food is really greasy and unhealthy generally, except on Tuesdays which is when they serve homemade type pasta stuff, which I usually get.

I go to Muay Thai classes 2 or 3 days a week, and lift weights on the other days (yeah I alternate what parts to work out), I used to run almost everyday in the summer/fall, but now it's cold and there's snow out, so I haven't done much cardio since it started snowing, except what I do at Muay Thai, I don't fight yet but I plan on it, so I could get away without doing any cardio until I got bigger, probably, right? It's not like I need to lose any fat at all...

Anyway, sorry for this post being unorganized and such, I just want to get bigger and it's kinda hard when I have to eat a lot, but school cuts into that.

Also a lot of you guys have said cut down on carbs and just eat protein if possible, but being 15 would eating carbs be bad (not bad like unhealthy bad, but for gaining muscle) for me? It's not like I gain much fat, if any?

So yeah... Any tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Let your body take its natural course of growth; you'll probably gain 20-50 pounds by the time you're 18. You're looking at anywhere from 150 to 180 fit, which isn't huge, but its not tiny either.

Size and strength look intimidating on the street and are good for grappling, but won't allways win in the ring. I've seen pro-welterweights walk over decent cruiserweight fighters in 2 rounds of full contact training. Smaller guys are generally faster and have better footwork than larger fighters. Work with what you got and make it work for you!

Watch the Mo Smith vs. Mark Coleman fight (UFC). Smith, allthough 40+ lbs lighter was able to outlast Coleman and even land some big kicks toward the end.

Check out the Roy Jones Jr. vs John Ruiz bout (boxing). RJJ gave away 30 lbs to the guy that could handle Hollyfields power. Suprisingly, RJJ busted Ruiz'z nose pretty badly and won TKO? towards the final rounds.

Also if you are the guy trying to go and sell these protein shakes go screw yourself.
Lighten up? I don't know why you're saying that but okay.

Don't try to be an Arnold Schwarzenegger? Why not? He's a lot more successful than you'll ever be... I didn't say I wanted to get into bodybuilding man, I said I wanted to get bigger (as in 20-30 pounds). You're assuming waaaaaay too much, obviously. I make a post about lifting weights and eating healthy when I'm 15, and you tell me to lighten up and not try to be an Arnold, heh.

I started this thread for some opinions on how I could eat a bit more without packing a lunch every single day, or what would help me gain a bit of muscle mass, not for fools such as yourself to post incoherent bullshit that no one asked for.

Take a look at yourself before you go judging other people by the way man, you have 3 quotes in your signature, two of which you quoted yourself, haha.

      Tom, thanks for your input!

No prob. Its a pain in the azz to pack your lunch everyday, but its worth it.

Eat egg whites, low fat turkey bacon and oatmeal for breakfast
Tuna sandwhich, with fruit for lunch
Chicken breasts with veges and rice for dinner
Drink a whey protein shake after working out

drink water between each meal, try not to drink too much pop or coffee.

This is pretty close to what I eat usually, except a lot of times I don't eat much (if anything) from breakfast to when I get home from school. So yeah I'll start packing lunches I guess. It's funny how I have motivation to work out, but not pack a simple lunch that'd probably take 5 minutes heh.

Anyway, getting to school, attending, then getting home probably takes 7-8 hours, so if I brought snacks like fruit or maybe energy bars or something for in between breakfast and lunch, that'd be a decent idea?

I dont see anything with quoting myself twice, because i think that they are great quotes. Hey mabey i am a bit full of myself but at least i can admit it. Can you admit that you are obsessed with looking like a bodybuilder?
I have no idea why you're talking about biker gangs? Can you explain please? I still don't understand where you're getting me wanting to look like a body builder from. I never once said I wanted to look, "ripped, cut, built," etc in any of my posts. I just wanted to get a bit bigger.

wear an oversized white fluffy jacket all the time and you will look bigger. not impressive but bigger. yeah I'm sure I helped you out with that statement. hehe. don't mind handtohand he gets a little ahead of himself and a little excited sometimes but he's cool. anyhoo. if you are serious about this and since your almost 16 if not already I would ask you to check out your doctor and get a full exam and ask him a bunch of questions like is it ok to start training heavy and at what intensity or for him to help set up an ideal diet plan. (diet does not just mean to lose weight not that I am testing your intelligence I'm just covering my own ass ) Also I would pick up some of menshealth guides like their "Total Body" and "Total Nutrition" guide. They have a ton of good advice. Also muscle media is good as well and if you can get your hands on their exercise guide then do that as well. Don't read that muscle fitness crap as they only get advice from bodybuilders who can kiss my booty but I doubt they can bend over to do it because they have too much muscle to even wipe theirs. Menshealth gets all the good research in. Like the fact that some research has shown that how many calories you take in directly affects how big you are. So you have to eat more! lol I know school sucks when it comes to eating. I know because 2 days out of the week I can't eat from 9 in the morning to 5 at night because of my classes. So instead of packing a lunch try to pack several meals. Spread the fun all day because that will get your metabolism up. Also don't give up your cardio. You may not need to lose fat but it will keep the fat you gain at bay and also keep your heart up. Do some running with intervals between jogging and sprints. They burn more fat than just jogging so you won't have to do them as often. Well if there is anything else I missed then i missed it on purpose because I am a genius and I don't make mistakes.

Torque: Okay i'll lay off yah. The reason that i mentioned biker gangs because i couldnt help but notice that your name was Torque, and there is a new movie coming out that well...many times young people fail to realise the reality of gangs.

Thanks for your input guys, I'll check out some of those mags and such.

H2H, people have been calling me Torque as a nickname for like 2-3 years man, the movie ripped off my name

copyright infringment dude. sue them for everything they got. make sure to read the mags before you buy them to make sure that they have what you need. Sometimes they have more stuff on sex than muscles but thats not bad either.

I agree with what most people have been saying. You are young, you are gonna grow a lot. If you wanna get big ,you gotta eat a lot. I know that you are in school and it is hard to eat. Im in university and what I do is I bought some meal replacements. So I keep one or two in my bag and a shaker. The best thing is to eat but if you cant eat, a meal replacement should help. Here is a website that may help: http://www.musclegaintips.com/feed.html

I do muay thai too but I took a break. I heard that it is almost impossible to gain mass and do muay thai at the same time. Has anyone else heard that?

its not entirely true its just that the cardio you go through burns a lot of the calories you need to get big. It difficult sometimes for different people.
