  • body weight work?

    hi all,

Just wondering if anyone here does strength training without any weights at all?

I recentley read an article about some guys that dont do any weights at all, just body weight work - and they were all pumped.

If so - do ya know of any good online reasorces.

    Cheers

Bodyweight only exercises can give you most of what you need. I agree with Adacas about adding some plyometrics, when you have a really solid foundation built up. That web site looks pretty good. You might want to check out Rossboxing.com. This dude Ross is a boxer and trainer and has written several VERY good books about conditioning/training for combat atheletes. One of them is titled "The Underground Guide to Warrior Fitness" and is all about a kick ass workout using mostly your own body weight. Well worth the price (around $30 U.S.) and Ross personally answers all e-mail questions about training and what-not. A VERY good resource. I highly recommend it.

              yeh -

I have always used a gym but am getting more and more interested in this way of doing things - it gives you better core strength which is a big bonus for MAists.

              cheers guys

Chris - you and I are following the same path. I've recently got myself a stability/fitness ball. As laughable as they sound....they don't half fire up all the muscles.

The theory is something about hitting muscle groups all at once, including the torso, like a real fight would. Rather than isolate them like weight training.

i've weight trained for years and, as you will soon see, am still a fat bastard. I've just got into more "core" exercises, and can feel the difference.

I'm working on the Hindu Squat instead of the Weighted Squat. Its amazing how the higher reps both qwork the legs AND the lungs.....

                Anyway, good luck with it!

kinda like the latest review u posted up huh bri?

core training gives u a great deal more strength as it doesnt isolate a muscle but instead make it go in unison with many...and many is much more powerful then one...

                  peace
