I was just curious as to what kind of dieting the martial artists are on. Anyway, just curious what kind of foods, etc, you all eat during the course of the day? Thanks for the help. Jim.

Even if you decide to take your protien from meat, your body needs way less than the 12-14 ounces you often find in a serving of steak. More like 4-6 ounces/day total protein (I'm not a nutritionist, if someone has better numbers please chime in).
There are a lot of details regarding food: serving sizes and calorie counts and things, but it boils down to this...
When you eat junk food consistently, your body becomes accustomed to it, and then you crave sugar and McDonalds fries whenever you are hungry. If you eat fruits and veggies, pasta and grains and nuts, then your body will crave those things when you are hungry instead.
Think of it this way:
By your daily eating decisions, you are making a list of foods that your body can choose from when its hungry. If you eat lots of apples and oranges, your body will crave those things when it needs calories; similarly, if you drink lots of beer, your body will recognize beer as an available source of calories and crave that instead.

Amino acids are even more important than the protein when you get down to it. You end up breaking up the proteins into amino acids when you take them in and put them back together to make the nessecary proteins for your body as we make only a few of the amino acids we need. You could get plenty of protein on a vegan diet but just be prepared to eat a lot of tofu
