  • A rant: im crying like a little baby

hello...i dont kno why...it seems like my body is weaker than my friends'. Not musclewise, but its like im already old. I took a break from lifting and martial arts for 3 months and im experiencing these injuries: A nerve in my right shoulder got irritated, tendons torn, muscle pull. In my right wrist, pain has just started and it hurts like hell whenever i rotate it( i havent even started wrist curls). My upper back i have experienced pain and a sort of pull/tenseness for the past week that wont go away. My knee feels sore.

Months ago, i realized that my lifting form was wrong and i needed to change. I did so, i also started warming up for 3 min before exercising and i have a list of stretches that i do EVERY DAY (no bouncing, i slowly breathe and slowly stretch). I sometimes ice myself after my workouts. And most importantly, i lift light weights and dont increase weights too much. I take ALL these precautions and yet i still feel pain now in multiple parts of my body. I dont kno what is wrong iwth me. Most of my friends have horrible form, lift too heavy weights, and dont stretch, and they havent gotten any injuries; whereas, my sorry joints and muscles seem like paper. Im one of the strongest and most flexibile in my grade, im not lacking in strength, my body just gets injuired so easily, even wheni do everything to take care of it. Im strong and weak at the same time. I dont kno what to do, im researching and trying my hardest to gradually strengthen muscles around the joints in order to never get injured again. Im sorry if i seem like im whining, but i cannot live without lifting or martial arts, and ive just gotten back to these two activitiesafter 3 months off and i dont want to go out for longer. Whats wrong with m,e?

P.S. i was never really depressed at all until my injury, i still maintained a strong mind; however, its gotten to wherei cant handle it. My whole body and mind hurts.

    Hey Brak,

i dont know if this will help you, but it sure did help me. I have tons of injuries from riding motocross before. I started taking calcium and glucosamine tablets which i bought from GNC few months back. I start slow while on these supplements like lift small weights and do lots of streching too. Now when i hit the heavy bag, my shin dont hurt that much ( still does cause it was previously smashed by a car during a traffic accident )

You wont see the effect right away, but slowly i believe you'll improve. Anyway i'm 30 yrs old and my recovery is slower now.... so i gotta take things slower. HTH

Take a break. Talk to strength coaches/trainers about proper lifting technique. Read up on the material.

Allways warm up and stretch for 15 minutes (do rope work or jog)

        Man, I feel for you!
It's frustrating after an injury or a lay-off to be unable to meet your goals. But my first question would be "What kind of pain are you feeling?"
It could be what you're feeling is because you've changed your routine and technique. You seem to be doing all the right things.

Take more time in warming up and pay more attention to nutrition and supplementation.

There is a certain kind of pain that's a good sign (The feeling of weakness leaving your body) and there's a kind of pain that tells you something just ain't right.

If your pains are not just standard muscle soreness from working out but feel like the pain is in your bones or joints you should see a sports doctor.

You're just experiencing some down time. You're body won't be at it's peak all the time. You're injuries don't seem too severe. Stuff like that happens to me all time. Once, when I was running down the steps, my left knee started hurting. I couldn't go into a deep stance, kick hard, and sometimes I couldn't even walk straight. I just worked around it, going easy in class, and working my upper body and stretching my lower body. i was back to normal in 3 weeks. It's tough, but you'll get through it.
