  • Is my schedule overtraining?

Here is the schedule i soon plan to follow. It's the summer and I don't have work or school now but i still plan to continue this schedule when my school resumes. I don't want to overtrain so im looking for advice on this schedule. Basically for the summer, this is all im putting time into. I get 8-11 hours of sleep each night and eat a lot because im trying to bulk up. I also take a multivitamin, glucosamine, flax seed oil, and i plan on taking glutamine. And also, if this routine is safe now, will it be ok in a few months when I have to go to school 5 days a week.

Monday - afternoon:Gym-1 hour evening:muay thai class for 2 hours
Tuesday - evening:brazilian jiujitsu class for 2 hours
Wednesday - afternoon:Gym-1 hour evening:muay thai class for 2 hours
Thursday - evening brazilian jiujitsu class for 2 hours
Friday - afternoon:Gym-1 hour evening:muay thai class for 2 hours
Saturday - morning: brazilian jiujitsu class for 1.5 hours evening: gym 1 hours
    Sunday - rest

      Resting on a sunday?
What a lazy bugger you are !!!

      LOL

Hashpuppet, if you are thinking of starting realistic-hard training.

You will soon see if your training regime is realistic.

Pesonally I would rather concentrate on Quality than quantity!

      GOOD LUCK

you need to vary te exercises you do in the gym.

If you want to bulk up you should lift to failure and then let your muscle recover for 4 days. If you work the same muscle group every day or every other day you will only be hurting yourself.

If you focus on muscle groups and rotate your weight regime to allow the muscles to recover you should be ok, but it takes a LOT of discipline. Lots of gyus go work out and end up with big (upper) arms and pecs, and that's it.

I assume you'll be using pads for the Muay Thai? if not plan on interrupting your workout regularly for injury...

Oh yeah, may want to put the hash away for a while too... It does sort of effect the body chemistry.

        Good luck

Only your body can tell you. If you have to ask if your overtraining then you probably aren't!

Lucky dog! If I wasn't taking summer classes right now your regiment is pretty much what I'd be doing, except I like throwing in some running in there as well.

i think u will be overtraining. sometimes , depending on how much u push ur body u will not have the energy to train or u will be too sore from lifting weights. Train hard, but rest hard too. If u do an intense leg workout, and ur muscles hurt from soreness,i dont think u will be going to muay thai that night. Or if u workout out ur shoulders the night before, and the next day they hurt from sorness,u prob wont wanna be holding heavy thai pads for a while, etc. I had an intense regimen this past year while i went to school that was something along the lines of judo twice a week, gym 4-5 times a week, muay thai 3-4 times a week. There were days when i did all three. I pushed myself so much that i stopped making gains, in weight lifting, and i got sick for like a week cause i had no energy anymore. Now i still train hard, but ive toned it down and i make sure to rest alot and eat. I train hard and let myself heal and my energy replentish. You will actually make better gains in the gym and have more energy for ur next workout. ITs quality over quantity, and its consistency too If u dont rest u wont have energy and u could hurt urself.

Ive been working out for a year, so i know a lot about working out. I do every muscle group hard once a week except abs which i do 3 times a week.
