well i've got my cardio and my lifting workouts settled, now i've gotta figure out what to do about my abs and stretching. I'm not worried about whether i have a six pack showing or not, i'm not saying it wouldn't be cool, i just want to have strong abs (since they are the core and have about everything to do with everything) but i don't know exactly what exercises to do for them, like i said before, i just want really strong abs. the only exercise i've been doing lately for abs is where i sit at the edge of a table and pull my feet in and crunch up only using my hands to balance doing 4 sets of 25...this gives a good burn and i can feel it a little in my obliques. I also need advice on stretching...i only do a basic stretch before i run but i'd really like to be able to come close to doing splits and such. so i'll take any advice anyone wants to give...thanks.

Abs:
The truth is that cardio (jogging, swimming, jumping rope) is the best exercise you can do if you want 6 pack abs because it burns away the fat that's blocking them. It is also important to stay away from fatty foods and eat more protein. However if you want a stronger core you should also some ab exercises. There are some from this video that i think are great:
YouTube - Ab Workout ( 6 pack abs ) [ ab exercises for ripped abs ]
What I suggest is maybe 20-30 mins of cardio to get started and possibly ab exercises 2 or 3 times a week.
This guy also has great tips on abs:

Stretching:
I find the straddle stretch very useful because ever since I've been using this stretch, almost my whole leg is more flexible. This will also help you get very close to a split.
Start out by sitting down and opening your legs as wide as you can. When you get to an advanced stage you will be able to put your hands on the floor, then elbows, and eventually the head.

for stretching , I have a full body stretching routine in my first book. Over the past several years there has been discussions on whats good stretching, over stetching or usless stretching. Some even say that your more likely to pull a muscle from static streching and there pushing more of dynamic stretches. The best advise i would give on that, is do a warm up, you standard static stretch routine, then dynamic stretch, Go through you workout routine, then static stretch afterwords.
On a good ab and toning work out routine, i'd suggest going to www.wrkf.us and click to the link called book sample. That's from my second book that covers mitt work and plyometrics
