  • Plyometrics and Core Training

    Hey Everybody,

I recently began training in plyometrics and core training in addition to weight lifting. Now due to money contraints and work priorities i can no longer attend my MT classes. Do you think training in both will help me keep the little bit of core strength and speed that i gained from my MT classes? I'm still a beginner in MT and looks like forever now. How often should i practice this? Thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

Training in plyometrics, weight training, and core training combined will give you more strength and general conditioning than MT (if you mean Muay Thai) ever would on its own, with the exception of being able to take punches and kick hard and all that. But if you continue with your strength and conditioning training, and add flexibility training, when you go to take martial arts classes again, you'll be in fine shape for it. It's different if you go to take martial arts again and are older and way out of shape. But if you're in great shape (flexible, strong, high endurance, etc...) starting martial arts again shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I think that you should train more in MT and in improving your stamina, I saw a Muay Thai fighter, Kaoklai something, his height is 5"11 and his weight is 174 lbs and he won the ASIA K-1 GP.... I beated taller and heavier guy!

Yeah i hear what you're saying MA but with limited funds to re-enroll in class it sux major ass...At the very least i have one of those water filled bags hanging on my tree in the backyard and i can practice the technique of my kicks and punches on that. By the way, I know the exactly the fight you're talking about! I have a picture of Kaoklai nailing the other guy in the head with a jumping kick...As a matter of fact it's my wallpaper on my PC!

Thanks you guys for the input! It's very much appreciated!
