  • Caffeine addicts unite!

Anybody here drink volumes of coffee?

Toudiyama....you're lying if you say that you don't... ...we know that a certain country in Northern Europe is the largest per-capita consumer of coffee.

Anyhow, I can drink up to 4 cups of coffee per day. That's considered moderately high level of consumption.

How can you kick the habit?

    dont drink?

seriously though, you can try the nicorette approach. like with smokers who try to quit, do the same with coffee.

take less and less gradually each week until you dont need it at all.

i suppose that might work. dont really know. i dont drink coffee.

Your screen name has inspired me to create a new kind of coffee drink...

      "The Darkrelevance"

      1 1/2 cups of coffee
      3 oz of chocolate (melted)
      brown sugar
      1/2 tbsp butter
      two slices of ginger

      .........

Another suggestion I've been told is to dilute coffee servings with decaf coffee. I'm gonna try it.

Elfunko, I consume a fairly high amount of caffeine.

Fortunately, I have a healthy heart because the rest of my diet and my excercise take care of the rest.

But as I age, I need to consider limiting my coffee drinking.

          There. I did it.

          Now what?

Personally I dont think that 4 cups of coffee a day (on occasion) is that much at all. I can drink that much in a sitting. I am not a normal coffee drinker; maybe 1 day a week while at lunch or something like that. Problems arise when you dont consume enough water to rehydrate. Coffee does have some benefits, so before quiting for good, I think you should really think about it. My mother tried quiting once, that was hell-week. Caffeine is really addicting and withdrawal will make you one miserable SOB. Caffeine is in everything; chocolate, candies, even some water, so it is really hard to get completely away from. If you want to quit, you'll have to avoid all sources of caffeine and just quit. You'll only quit if you really want to. Quiting and limiting are different things. Do you want to quit, or just cut down?

Meh, just kidding with ya since this thread sounds like AA. With caffene I think its personal preference, I mean, if you stopped drinking coffee would you notice any difference in yourself and your biology? Maybe not. Maybe your body handles it fine just like you described. Maybe I don't even know the "effects" of continous caffene consumption.

i dont know, i mean im addicted to soda (has caffeine) ..and i've gained lots of weight just from soda.. so i need to quit, but if you are willing to last out a few months with out coffee and being tired most of the day, then you could probally quit completly, im gonna stop drinking coke when i get some work out charts filled out.. its easier for me to keep track of my excersize's like that

                  Coffeeholics.

I used to drink like a pot of coffee a day until I found out it messes with your brain waves as far as concentration and focuse is concerned. It is also terrible for your lower abdomen and causes problems over an extended period of time. Knowing the side effects of coffee was enough motivation for me to cut back to two cups a day, thats one before each workout. Which I read can have positive effects on your workout. Hope that helps ya, it sure helped me!

I drink one or two 12 oz. cups of coffee every day. I think it's great stuff and personally I don't see any reason to quit. I asked my doctor if it was likely to cause problems for me and he didn't think my habit was anything to worry about.
