I'm pretty sure crunches are more to build up a leaner set of abs, they dont do much in the way of getting the fat off I beleive. My abs are pretty large, but they don't show through because of an ever present annoying as hell layer of fat over them. Fat burning is better left to cardio methinks, although if your abs are a little small the crunches will be nice of course. Not that I'm 100% sure if I'm right, but I dont see how flexing ab muscles will burn fat off except in the minor way any small movements do.
But then I keep reading about how you don't finish "filling out" until 22 or so. And I THINK filling out is more or less where your body finishes building itself, and stuff such slightly excessive belly fat will be gone by then (assuming you don't have any extra fat to start with) kinda like how babies have plenty of fat on them, its somewhat of a continuous thing through the years, and eventually that fat will go away as it's not needed.
they say anyone who has visible ab muscles at the ages oof 10-21 is mainly due to genetics, and after that age it'll be much easier to get rid of that fat, again, maybe because the body needs it until a later age.
This is assuming you don't have like gigantic folds even when standing straight and a 10 ft waistline, if thats the case it's probably your horrible eating habits or a disease of some sort.
Nothing of what I said should be taken for 100% truth, as I am making assumptions.
Anyone want to clarify everything I just said?!?!

look at your diet, effectively calorie intake. if you really want to lose weight, drop significantly below the recommended amount then cycle as fast as you can for as far as you can daily. as in keep moving away from home until you feel really tired, then try to get home faster than you got out. run up hills. run fast up big hills. watch the fat melt off. worked for me. but beware... make sure you start eating normally again once the fat is gone....
not an even slightly healthy approach, be warned. but it works.

[QUOTE=Aikido_Girl918]i don't like diets, i like salt and sugar, lots of it, QUOTE]
ahhh... that could be the problem you realise? if your diet is crap you will look crap. that pretty much goes without saying.
stop eating crap. hard to do i know, but possible. the uphill running and cycling will only take noticable effect rapidly if you do keep going past the point where it hurts. where your lungs burn and your legs ache....
if you dont have the motivation you eat crap instead, you will look worse in time, not better. and no, running hard uphill and "being good" does not mean you can reward yourself with nice things to eat. if you exercise then eat crap it completely undercuts the exercise, instead of burning off fat you just burn what you eat afterwards

okay, i know that already, but acually acording to Family Cricle magazine, studies show people who eat like **** a lot acually stick to their diets better. if you know you are allowed to have more of it, you tend to eat less of it, which is why those stupid little "no, no" lists don't work. people pig out when they reward themselves, instead of having a little bit once a week

i dont think youve quite got what im driving at here. NONE of the treats. if you work out for an hour then eat a load of chocolate, youve wasted an hour. ignore any magasines that tell you you can eat what you like and get fit. sometimes, ppl will say what their customers want to hear....
i used to have a belly lol. now ive got piss all body fat. it works, believe me.
eating crap as a reward DOES NOT work. if your tired and you want to reward yourself, go look in a mirror, without the clothes. look at what you are and think what you want the exercise to achieve. then go fun up another hill. the reward is feeling that you achieved something instead of sitting on your arse eating ice cream

you don't get what i am saying go eat a load of chocolate, i am saying if you feel that deprived, eat a chocolate, 2 tops, if you know you can have more in 3 or 4 days, it wont bother you as much to only eat one. trust me we have like nothing sweet left in the house (moms on a 1600 calorie planned-meal diet), but i still don't eat much of it on the weekends at my grandparents, because i know i can have more next week and there is plenty of fruit until then. besides, if you eat one chocolate, especially dark chocolate, which is a bit healthier, not healthy by any means, but healthier, then you only wasted 10 minutes. by the way, looking in the mirror is more punishment then inspiration for most people

depends how your mind works. if you look in the mirror and think "i hate this. i dont want to look like this." you can get depressed and comfort eat, or you can get angry with yourself and run up the hill. ive now said that so often that im now going to go and run up a hill myself, and is 25 past midnight atm.
i looked really crap at christmas. now, thanks almost entirely to muay thai and a degree of self contempt, im in fairly good shape. fitter than most of my friends anyway. just need to put more muscle on.
find the motivation from somewhere. why do you care what you look like? what about it upsets you?
p.s. most ppl are indifferent about looking in the mirror. very few think its punishment

okay
okay, one question, how do you run that far that fast? as i said, getting fit is a goal of mine. i guess a better way of exp;aining how fit i am is i cant run/jog around the block, i have tried and failed many times, i cannot do that yet

fair play. if you use msn ill be able to help somewhat better than this, add angrymusic678@hotmail.com and say hello. otherwise ill do my best here.
im a terrible runner. i really am. when do you stop running? when your legs start to ache? after a short while you get a fairly strong urge to stop moving cos it starts to feel like a bad idea. your breathing starts to get harder as well and its REALLY EASY to just stop and wonder along for a while.
have you got any medical problems that stop you exercising or is it just really hard to start?
