I wanna quit wieghts for six monthsand do straight body whieght exersises like pull ups, pushups, running stars and bleachers, and frog hops and stuff like that
well im trying to improve my strength most of all and a little bulk but i know im not going to gain alot of bulk with out wieghts. also more solid muscles
and for my build im 6 foot and athletic/kinda slim/wiry (don't make any "this isn't a dating service" comments, im only responding to a post)
Lifting does have it's purpose, but personally I think it is very over-rated and over-emphasized. I agree with Thai Bri that it depends on what you're trying to achieve, if you want to gain weight and muscle mass lifting weights is important. However, in my experience using your body weight to train is more useful to a martial artist because it builds more explosive power and muscle endurance than lifting weights. I'd rather do push ups and pull ups until my arms turn to jelly and leave lifting weights to the guys that just want bar muscles. That's just my $.02 though, if you really want to make the best use of your time I suggest talking to your instructor about what would give the most benefit to your practice.

for improving strength, i would highly suggest you mix in some kind of weight lifting regimen. you dont have to lift everyday or anything, but if increasing your total strength is one of you goals, i would suggest lifting atleast maybe once a week or so. i think your body weight excercise regimen is fine, and adding in a moderate weight lifting regimen would best suit your goals.
Here are SOME ideas. I stress the some because you're only limited by your imagination and environment when it comes to body weight drills:
Push-ups have tons of variations based on:
One hand/foot vs. two
Alternate hand/foot elevations
Hand stand push-ups:
Isometric holds
Assisted by hooking your heals on something
Unassisted
Reverse push-ups:
Lie on your back, grab something in front of you and pull-up to it
Pull-ups:
Enough said - grab the bar in any hand configuration and pull
Body weight squats:
Any variation you can think of -
Wide/narrow feet
One/two feet
Lunges
Single leg good-mornings
Figure out ways to incorporate things like medicine balls, basket/soccer balls, ropes/towels, "swiss" or exercise balls, chairs/tables, ladders, etc. Body weight exercises should be done both balistically (fast and furious) and grinding (slow movement and total body tension). You can get very strong with body weight drills, and even put on a little size.

if you want to bulk up its simple, just eat alot, potatoes, chicken, tirkey, steaks, fish, rice, pasta, lots of green veg, make sure you drink atleast 10 glasses of water per day, also try finding something in your local store called nurishment, and super malt, drink 1 nurishment per day for a period of time ie 1 month. dont quit the wieghts do less reps on heavy wieghts maxing your strenth out, also fo lots of sets with the heavu wieghts, but dont train with wieghts everyday like this, about 2-3 times per week give body time to recover inbetween, but yeah if you want to bulk up for muscle power its all in your diet, but dont forget about explosive power man, dont just concerntrate on pushing power and muscle bulk power, train on your speed always, and explosive power,
dont neglect the stretches though man you should be stretching before and after working out, always try to progress witj stretching, for many reasons, but to increase muscle bulk you need to stretch them out.
Today i did dips untill i couldn't do any more and lots of pull ups and some ab work, I felt alot more worked and exausted than i ever did with wieghts.
yeah because generally wieghts dont get the heart rate going that much, cardio work is needed for this, i dont use wieghts that much compared to other training i do, but i do lift wieghts about 3 times per week in a full workout. just basicly try out new things and concerntrate on the ones that work best for the result you want.
