  • Warmed up with Supermans and hollow rocks, then five negs and 10 body-rows. 1st round of the Crossfit WOD which was supposed to be three rounds of 50 squats, 7 muscle-ups and 10 hang power cleans...but my strength wasn't there and I was using 60# assist on the mu's and still all tired, and had to switch from 60# all the way down to 35# for the cleans. So I stopped after one round (5:34) because my heart wasn't into it. Tried to start tomorrow's WOD which is deadlifts (2X10), did 2X 60-70-80-90 and then my elbow started hurting and I called it a night. Taking the next two days off completely and icing my elbow. It's just a little sore.

    • Saturday:
1.5 mile run with sprints every quarter mile followed without break by CFWU X3

-I am up to unassisted pullups (10) and 90 degree dips (10). this week I'm going to put the dips directly after the pull-ups (instead of putting the sit-ups between for rest) and see how it goes. Building toward muscle-up

-Can walk on my hands easily, can usually maintain a steady handstand for a few seconds, can do four-five handstand push-ups on the wall. Working on true handstand pushups.

      Sunday:

Hike. five hours, twenty-five hundred foot elevation gain.

Gregi, any advice on how to get those true handstand pushups?

I can bang out quite a few reps against the wall, but seem to tip over with a regular handstand. Seems like just practicing a hand-stand would do the job, no?

              Ha, Ha, no.
I have the same problem. I guess it's just a matter of getting stable handstands and practice. My arms collapse and I tip over, so maybe it's also a strength issue.

I'm begining to think its more in the shoulder stabilizers and core stabilizers seeing we can bang out reps with the assistance of the wall.

I'll try it with a spotter holding my ankles tonight. That should help locate the weakness.

                    • I think its more about putting your legs in the correct position and maintaining it. I just tried it on the wall several times and ended up holding for a few seconds without it after I kept re-positioning my legs. And that site actually helps, I never knew toes could affect your balance so much.

                      • 130 Good mornings
                        150 situps.
                        80 pushups.
20 handstand pushups with wall support.

Held headstand position for a while then handstand position. The handstand was on the wall most of the time :P

                            • Still nursing my elbow, so I did a WOD I made up. 3 rounds of 33 reps situps, walking lunges, squats and good mornings. Just under 20 minutes. I think that's slow but have nothing to compare it to.

                              • I remember when Tom Yum first wrote this thread. I thought to myself--running will go against all laws of kicking. Now, look--it's 9,000+ hits later and still going strong. Who would have thought so many martial artist ran!!!
