In order to work on my back, do I need equipment, or are there and "biomeric"/calisthetic back exercises?

    Gracias.

Chin ups improve back muscles. I also know a dumbell excersize for your obliques. If you want I can describe if you are interested. You need at least a 30 lb dumbell.

But most of the excersizes are done using weights.

Chin ups and pull ups are the only body weight workouts I know. Hyperextensions hit lower back. Best way to build back is rows though.

        Good call.

My life as a grapple basically consists of strait armbars, strait armbars, and strait armbars, and I want to have a strong and quick pull to secure control over that joint.

        Time to row.

Well to do rows, you can use dumbells, barbells and ive seen people do it with 40 lb heavy bags and sand bags. If you have access to any of these, id say start up. Back is an important muscle for grappling that many people dont work cause its not really a main "t shirt muscle" (i was like that)

Have you observed this phenomenon? Repeatedly?

Do lever pullups from gymnastics and regular pullups to work the back; they're all you need for working the upper back. Deadlifts are good for the lower back though. http://www.dragondoor.com/articler/mode3/229/ - read this article. It tells how to get planches and lever pullups.

There are 3 main back exercise, and u dont need any eqipment for any of them... Well ... maybe a barbell...

1 Rows.... With a barbell.. This is to build back mass
2 Deadlifts .... Training of lower back... Let somebody teach u.... U can harm your back with this exersices if u dont know how to to them....
3 Chinups (broad grip and behind the neck)
if u do them to your chin, to work 60 percent biceps.
                      Behind the neck...

Theres is a short explaination of 4 back exercises on my siteÑ

U can also do them without equipment...
                      Regards

You need very little equipment, Dan.

Pullups - you can do these either to the chin or behind the neck. They work your lats and upper back.

Chinups - These work the biceps alot more.

Divebombers - These work the entire back.

Back extensions - Mostly lower back.

Regular pullups and lever pullups are pretty much all you need. Tom, I didn't know Dive-Dombers work the back; I thought they were strictly an arm exercise (shoulders and triceps).
