  • Ack! God damn Shoulder

    So I just reinjured my shoulder, and im tired of this because it stops me from training, (thats almost all I do nowadays)... so I think it may be due to training too much... but damn.. I'm like addicted to it... anyway... anyone got any tips on how to recover/prevent this in the future.

    I thought it might be a rotator cuff injury, but I looked on the web adn they said the pain wold on the front or the side, mine is on the back of the shoulder. It doesnt really hurt if I move my arm in any particular direction and when im just sitting here it doesnt hurt... but every once in awhile I'll get this pain when I move my arm. I can swing my arm around, push it back and forth, "pump" my fist, throw punches, it's just wierd, I haven't been able to find anything on the net with my symptoms. Other than rest, what can I do?

    my shoulder always slid, it slipped into a different spot when a certain particular movement happened with it (happen only under these exact circumstances, which were rare but annoying as hell), I'd be able to slip it back by simply moving my arm straight out, but my shoulder and upper arm would be in pain for maybe 12 hours at once. It happened more and more and it got slightly easier to bear as it happened. However after a while I was able to reproduce the movement on demand, and while I was sitting in class or whatever I moved it a tad and got it to happen, then went back and forth from sliding into and out of position. Now it doesn't happen anymore (very very rarely) and when it does I only feel a slight difference.

    maybe something similar with you?

      hmm maybe, I dont know.. doesnt feel like anything is sliding or popping.. just muscle pain... its a strange injury thats for sure... I think I get it whenever I train too much...

        I injured my shoulder a while back too. Try moving your arms as far out from your chest as possible, while being relaxed. Does this hurt more than anything else really? If so, you might have what I had. I don't know what happened to mine, as I never saw a doctor. I just stopped training for like 2 months, and started having better posture.........Feels nice to be able to train again though

          my shoulders have been on and off for about a year. Its similar to waht it sounds like u have, if I train too often or too hard (like last week I reinjured my left shoulder doing dips and chinups), and it hurts in the back of my shoulder in the rotator cuff. I have tried alot of things to try to heal them, but definitely dont do any rotator cuff exercises or hard stretching while you still feel pain, it doesnt help. You will porbalby have to warm up for like half an hour to the point you dont feel pain, but the next day you will notice it will probably hurt even more. Just give them some rest, some light stretching and maybe take some advils or other OTC anti-inflammatories before sleep. Some people are skeptical about them but Ive noticed if I take 2 before I sleep they definitely feel alot better the next morning. Good luck and be careful!

            I actually have a nerve issue. At the top of your spine there is a series of nerves that go from your spine to your shoulder and down your arm. I thought I had rotater cuff issues as well. However, I would simply get better with some ice and 800 MGrams of Motrin. Then I was reading on the web and finally there it was. All my symptoms. The nerve I am speaking of will make your shoulder hurt and sometimes cause some tingling down your arm. Most of the time your shoulder won't feel anything. If you sit a certain way it will hurt, lay a certain way it will hurt because the nerve is hitting against something in your body.

            I am going to actually try a Chiropractor to see if I can get my spine realigbed. Sounds nasty, but the issue is my spine at the top is a little out of alignment causing the nerve to be out of alignment.

            Something to explore.
