  • Forumn Members Sample Diet

I'm on 5 small meals and two snacks a day. Trying to stay around 2500 net calories.

    This is my sample diet

7:00 a.m. two cups of coffee cream and sugar and a bowl of high fiber cereal with water

10:00 a light meal such as lean cusine or the wife's leftovers

12:00 My heavy meal for the day. About twice a week it may be carefully picked fast food; the remainder of the week lean cusine or leftovers

2:00 a couple of pieces of fruit and a whole bag of microwave popcorn.

4:00 a cup of tea and another piece of fruit

5:00 Whatever the wife cooks or pasta sauce with ground beef. ( I have it several times a week for prostrate health)

10:00 Diet ice cream either no sugar added or light or fat free.

64 oz of bottle water divided equally throughout the day. I'd rather go over than under but try not to drink water after 7 p.m.

Tons and tons of fruits and veggies especially green leafy veggies.

Just curious to hear what type of food regime the members of defend adhere to.

Breakfast--eggs or a smoothie or eggs and steak if I'm feeling rich
Snack--a couple pieces of fruit, or some yogurt
Lunch--red meat and veggies (usually a good salad plus warm veggies with dinner, steamed greens are nice)
Snack--cheese or trail mix or jerky
      Dinner--more meat and veggies
      Snack--usually some fruit
      Before bed--some herbal tea, mmm.

I drink loads of water throughout the day.

Once a week I'll eat lots of crap--root beer floats or chocolate and Dr. Pepper, etc.

I'm trying to modify this because I'm sick of my breakfast choices. But I love the Zone. Hmmm.

Sorry about the columns not being straight; I really don't want to take the time to deal with it (didn't copy well from notepad ). Hope this helps!

I realized while grocery shopping today that my diet really changes every few weeks. For example, in dealing with the god-awful desert summer heat, I found myself buying more yogurt, fruit, granola, etc. for breakfast (instead of eggs, steak and protein shakes), more raw vegetables and fruits and salads and less steamed greens, and I noticed myself cutting out milk, cheese, jerky and trail mix in favor of fruit, fruit and more fruit. And I'm drinking fruit juice and Gatorade because I figure my need to stay hydrated overrides my need to keep my glucagon and insuline balanced. I guess I eat less grains in the summer, too.

When I wake up I have a glass of water before I go for a run. When I'm done running and cleaning up I have a piece of fruit, usually either an apple or a bannana. When I get to work I usually have two or three cups of coffee. For lunch I get a sandwich with lean deli meat, pretzels and green olives. I keep a bag of baby carrots in my dept. fridge which I snack on in the afternoon. Around 4:30-5:00 I have a handful of peanuts and another piece of fruit. I usually get home from the gym some time between 8:00 and 9:00 depending on what's going on. For dinner I usually grill either chicken or pork chops with some random veggies. If I'm lazy on a week night I go to a place called "Eats" and get the special, which is jerk chicken, rice, beans and a piece of corn bread for $5.50. Sometimes I cheat and go out for pizza, or bacon-cheddar burger but I stick to this at least 5 or 6 days out of the week.

If you are male you need 1600 to make sure your body isn't storing fat. Depends on your height and weight though. Might be worth upping another 100 calories if you are male.
