  • Help for sprained lower back please?

    Hi all.
I train myself, dont attend MA classes.I am a big fan of Bruce(yep,i know thats rare on here!).
I generally just do punches(600-800 in one go evry day),speedwalking and a bit of kicking too.Coz i never stretched a lot early on in my life(im 37 now) i havent much flexibilty in my kicks, though my legs are strong.I accept the limitation.
Problem was that i was kicking TOO early(7am sometimes)without much warmup, and sprained my lower back(11 months ago).It bothered me for months(i laid off kicking, but kept punching). But after a bit of sea swimming, and football it improved.I think i was being too cautious with it.
Can anyone give me advice on some simple exercises to further strenghen my lower back muscles/core??I know i need it strenghened to keep the power delivery of my punch/kick up and running.
    Cheers

Can I ask you y u haven't made any visitation to the doctor? If it bothered you that much u should have seen someone and you still should. A doctor can giv eyou or send you to someone that will give u better advice than any of us can.

Since u asked for remedies for a sprained back, I will give u some advice. Yoga is a very good activity to do with back problems. Look for a routine on the internet or join a 4 week class, it will help u for sure.

If your back is indeed SPRAINED like youi hav estated, u NEED to see a doctor about what u should or should not be doing. If you r exhagerating, u might not need to go, only u do.

Oh,i have been to the doctor.Just that all they say is 'its nothing',just rest it for a while.I think the problem is i find it hard to rest.I am a bit hyperactive. But i did rest it for a couple of weeks, then did sea swimming(great massage) and footy, which seemed to help it.
Its still a bit vulrenable at the mo though,so i have to be careful-i think yoga may be a little harsh for it-so i will try to keep it exercised via sprinting etc.Cheers

Thanks.I can kick ok( a straight leg level to my hip),but my side kick is only half that height, hence i have to lean backward(off balance)too much.
I have tried laying on the bed, with legs up the wall, and splaying-allowing gravity to stretch(SOUNDS FUNNY).
Im 37,i wonder if i've lost the opputunity to be flexible?Maybe not.I am 6 foot 1",quite tall.I wish i had started flexing when i was 5!
