  • Martial art style that has good conditioning?

I am looking for a style that has a lot of conditioning in it. Just looking to get stronger, more powerful. Maybe a little body harding to take or give a punch. Internal or external strenght. I was thinking maybe either Hung Gar, Go Ju Ryu or maybe Shorin Ryu. What else is out there? What do the styles work on in there classes?

take muay thai. its exactly what you are describing, more so than the arts mentioned.

There is no more intense conditioning than in wrestling.

Thanks people, you know I totally forgot about those. I remember I did boxing in College, after the first workout I could hardly move my arms.

the advantage of muay thai is that boxing is a part of muay thai training. most muay thai gyms nowdays include modern boxing in their training, so you will learn boxing in addition to other things. the sparring in muay thai is less restrictive than boxing as well since you have more options. muay thai also conditions your legs to take hits and conditions your shin bones for maximum damage.

My arms where a little sore, but my legs were too which wasn't suprising as my instructor had me throwing proper punches w/ legs and hip action.

Its a different type of conditioning. but it may be easier or more convenient for Darthmaul to sign up at a Boxing or a Muaythai gym. also, he's obviously looking to do a striking art

just gotta review what training programs your schools have. In my style of kickboxing we do some traditional training, then we have days we do boxing as well as toning exercises using weights or medicien ball
