  • recommendations on excercise/flexability routine for 8yr old 6mths into classes.

I was wandering what type of exercises to increase flexability and range of motion, that would be appropiate for an 8yr old student. He is diehard into his classes but is getting frusturated about not being able to preform as well as some of the other kids. I have tried to explain to him that everything comes with time and practice, but a little bit of excercises would not hurt him either.

    Thanks in Advance

I would guess that at his class there doing a regular stretching routine twice a week. Thats something you could increase to a third day a week. You don't want to over due the stretching, but, at 6 months of training, you could probably push it a bit. At 6 months he should be kicking hea high. Out side of his regular class, you could be doing one on one training using the coaches mitts. That type of one on onw training will increase his hand eye coordination quicker than anything. You usually don't ge that in a regular class setting. My second book goes into detail of one one one training, using the coaches mitts, learning the 4 levels of boxing would boost him above the average student and then there is plenty of drills, so as not to have him get to bored. But, as a general rule, try and keep the training under 45 minutes for kids that are under the age of 12.
