  • What should I do? Please !

    Hi
I am trying for some time to do two finger push-ups.
Now, I am able to do maximum 4 or 5, no more. I've heared the advice "The more you try the more you get". Well... Now it is a little problem. When I open my palms wide and I close them into a fist, my fingers hurt. They do not hurt really really bad, but they hurt. Now I do not know what to do. To continue with the exercises? Or should I not?
Is this pain something that I must resist or not?
    It is normal?
    What should I do?
Any advices please, please, please !
(I am a little worried. And, I am patient, I mean, in the last few days I didn't continued the exercises as before. What should I do now?)

My guess is that since you're a beginner to the exercise, your hands are not conditioned to the stress that you're putting them under. As a result, there's some minor damage and inflammation, maybe some minor soft-tissue tearing. I would not treat this like muscle soreness, which you can (carefully) work through. Instead, I'd probably lay off for a few days, ice (10 minutes at a time, a few times per day) and ibuprofen. Then I'd restart the program using lower volume, that is, less practice and reps, using pain in my hands as a guide. Note that I'm not a doctor, and this is definitely not medical advice--- really, at some point you may need to see an orthopedist if it continues. I'm just telling you what I personally would do in your shoes.

finger pushup don't hold much value in a workout. Better off just changing to regular pushups or pushups on your knuckles.

Is there a point to the fingertip push ups or are you just trying to impress girls?

As my estimate is that since you're a beginner to the workout, your hands are not trained to the tension that you're putting them under. As a outcome, there's some secondary impairment and inflammation, perhaps some secondary soft-tissue tearing.
