knuckle conditioning is not such a good idea unless you don't care about your health. Make a fist and roll your knuckles against a cinder block wall. One thing you will find out is that the softer substance (your hand) will break down first. You can build calouses on your knuckles but they just look ugly and you will lose sensation in them from the damage done to your nerves. No matter what you do your hands can be damaged in a fight. Professional boxers who have been training for years still get what is called a boxers fractior or however you spell it. It like in a knife fight you must always expect to get cut in a fight expect to get hurt. It is true also that certain conditioning will increase bone density. Weight lifting is an example. In kajukenbo a lot of blocks are done with the forearm so they condition the forearm by two guys just banging their forearms together. It hurts like hell and your arm will bleed from time to time. I have heard of people using steel plates as a training tool but their hands look like they dipped them in acid. I heard this quote somewhere, "the hands are such a beautiful tool. Why abuse them?" Your hands are made for a lot more than punching and if you continue thats all they will good for. I have read of a guy getting a big chunk of hard rubber and punching that for conditioning. It certainly is better than a cinder block.

"If you know anything about how your body works"

Funny you should say this. Junior at fresno state in the kinesiology program. Go ahead an look up what that means smart ass!!

By the way when did I say it should be done every day??
If you are very advanced, then POSSIBLY. But I still wouldn't suggest it. I wouldn't suggest almost any form of exercise every day. That is just common sense

Another point. .You keep on pointing out the wrist WILL BREAK OR GET INJURED. .Well, if you are punching properly then you are not putting nearly as much pressure on the wrists. The wrist is being supported by the alignment of all the stronger bones behind it. (the radius and ulna.)
Of course if your wrist is flexed or extended when you punch you will end up hurting it. That is BAD FORM. Like I said, if you use proper form you have a LESS chance of hurting it. You can still hurt your wrists with wraps doing the punching bag. It is a dynamic exercise. Anytime you have a dynamic exercise there is chance of injury. But, to say that you can not do this consistently without hurting yourself is ignorant(ie you haven't done it and haven't seen anyone do it, so it must not be able to be done)

        grubbogoppoly,
Methinks that you ain't too bright and that you should choose another major. Your wrist COMPRESSES, fool. It can also break on a hook if you screw up (and everybody does). It's the way things work. Shit happens, you make a mistake, and you accidentally hurt yourself when you didn't have to.

But, to say that you can not do this consistently without hurting yourself is ignorant(ie you haven't done it and haven't seen anyone do it, so it must not be able to be done)
Sorry, but I trust the collective knowledge and experience of boxing coaches worldwide over your opinion.

Hand condidtioning has little to no purpose in it, is foolish and is for fools only. Grubbogoppoly, step right up...

fresno state huh. funny i knew a couple of kinesiology majors there and they sure are not too bright. Besides what does a junior in kinesiology have against men who have done hand conditioning for decades. Why do you think boxers go through all that tape. Its certainly not for decoration. All that I have heard is that no matter what even with so called hand conditioning, in a real fight without gloves you can and will break the bones in your hand or wrist. Hell my cousin is 6'2" near 400lbs and has been training for years. His hands look like cooked hams. During training he injured his wrist sparring and since still feels the pain. Kinesiology gets its knowledge from studies done in the past but where are you gonna get studies on the trauma a persons hands get when they box bareknuckle? Not too many places I would assume. I am a civil engineering major. A far cry from kinesiology but I know a few things about structures and the skeletal system has to follow the same rules. Like a vertical column holding up a roof your hands will compress. Unlike the column though your hands have joints that have to cushion the sudden blow and it can take only so much. Something will give at a high enough amount of strain perfect form or not. Perhaps you should take a few engineering classes. You might learn something.

MORON> >Your wrist compresses any time you touch anything dumb ass, it is simple physics. SO what is your point exactly????????????Sure it CAN break if you screw up. .It can break if you screw up with wraps just the same. So step right up and tell me some more fucking basic physics moron

When did I say that training the knuckles was the part that keeps you from hurting your knuckles ON A HEAVY BAG?? Thought I was prescribing doing heavy bag form with the right technique. But hey what do I know? Yes, there are some dumbasses here. But are they passing. Love you people that try and pretend like you know how I think or even what I am like. You have no idea. Just like in weights, my knowledge comes from lots of training and the studies they do in books

I went to state for a year but couldn't keep up with the payments so now I'm suffering from the mediocracy of community college. People shouldn't take these threads so seriously. I don't. its not like people are actually gonna go into eachothers faces and start mouthin off. So in turn I open this here kool-aid container in peace as an offering to all. "I REALLY DON'T MIND". I just put that one in caps so you fucking fools would get a clue. .
I don't fucking care "whos side your on". I have no side but my own. This isn't me being mad at you. This is my stance. If you agree with what I say, then cool. But, tell me why. I don't like the yes men. If you like what "the other guy said". Cool, then say what u like.
I find it dumb and pointless to take votes.. Im with you. .I take everything he says, word for word as the complete fact. .

So, I am relaxed. I just get annoyed with stupid people who have no real input and write things like "I agree with ryan" as if it made any contribution to anyone elses lives. Shows no thought process what so ever.
