  • Help: FAT BURN

    Need some help.

Trying to lose some serious flab that has collected on my stomach. Just kinda snuck up over the last two years when i was inactive with college Anyway. I train Muay Thai 3 days a week and have cut down on needless meals. My fitness levels are good... arms and legs have shaped up nicely... but the stomach is near impossible to sort out.

Id appreciate some detailed advice on how to get rid of stomach fat. If i can get rid of that i will also be able to lose the kilos i need to get into my proper fighting weight.

Any particular excerices? Routines? Eating plans? Diet pills? Im really out of ideas. Im thinking of 30 laps in the pool each morning...

    Much appreciated.

One of the things that has the most helpful to me is diet, supplements and rest. For the diet you should take a look at what you are taking in. That was the biggest problem for me. Then even though you are doing MT you should get some other cardio in. Running, swimming, etc. Still hit the gym and class hard and you will see it burn away.

by the way I can put you in touch with someone who can workout a diet and a weight training program if you want.

Yeah... either that or there's liposuction , abdominal etching , hypoxy and all that good stuff.

I'll bet a year in prison can work wonders on the physique...

Hi JP, I lost 55 pounds over the course of about 16-18 weeks.

I eat 5-6 meals a day, roughly one every 3 hours. Each meal is has about a 1:1 ratio of carbs and protein and I take creatine and a whey protein supplemtn twice a day.

On top of that I exercise using a 3 day on 1 day off schedule and each workout lasts between 1 hour and 1 hour 15 minutes. I rest about 1 minute between sets and most workouts consist of sets of 14-18 reps with the occasional "heavy" workout in the 8-12 rep range.

I went from a "sporty" 260 pounds to my current 205 pounds

I did not do any cardio work at all.

                Chuck

A few pieces of advice on trimming fat:

Set a primary goal to not loose muscle. Loosing muscle will slow your metabolism and create a slingshot effect in which you will later gain more weight back than your originally lost.

                  Diet:
                  - Keep a food journal and make sure you take in enough protein and calories (don't put your body into starvation mode)
                  - There are non-fat substitutes for all your dairy products.
                  - Take in your carbs by lunch and reduce them later in the day
                  - Stay away from fad or extreme diets. Slow fat loss (1-2 lbs per week) while retaining or building muscle is the best.

                  Aerobic exercise:
                  - Get a heart rate monitor and set daily goals for time in your aerobic zone.
                  - During your 1st 40 minutes you will be burning off mostly sugars. After that you get into burning fat. The exception to this is if you get up in the morning and go running without eating anything. (Of course, any cardio work will improve your cardio-vascular system--but we're talking specifically about loosing fat.) If you can work up to 1.5 or more hours of target zone aerobics per day you are doing well. You'll loose fat at that pace and, provided you work on keeping your calories up, feel great.)
                  - Try to lift weights. Weights will increase your metabolism, which in turn will make it easier to loose weight.

Well, that's my advice. That and $2.00 will get you a latte.

                  Terry

P.S.: 30 laps in the pool is not enough.
