  • I'd like some body toning/weight gain advice

Right now I weigh around 140 lbs, I tried to find my body fat percentage online and it came out to about 21 percent. Right now, I'm eating mostly just vegetables, fruits, water, and low fat things. I've lost a few pounds in the past 2 months or so and my arms and shoulders have gotten bigger. My ideal weight goal is atleast 180 pounds. I work out 2-3 times a week, I do a lot of cardio, stretching, boxing, and I'm gonna start taking muay thai or bjj classes. I thought I could tone a little bit and burn the fat I have on me right now and then start eating more and gaining muscle weight. Could I get some dieting tips? Should i tone and then gain weight or gain weight and then tone..what's the best way to go about this?

Cut first, then gain some weight.

Have a look on bodybuilding.com for some dieting tips.

Sort yourself out with a sound diet, about 100 calories below your maintenance level, split up into 6-8 meals. Try HIIT cardio, it will speed up your metabolism.

bit rushed for time, so can't say much, but good luck.

    later.

      No No No.

Gain the weight first. As you have already got a head start.
If you loss the weight then put it on to gain muscle strength and mass it is going to be a lot harder then starting it know.

Besides the winters coming so all bodybuilders are bulking up. Then they get ripped in the summer.
      Try it.

Read these Articles from Derek Chalrebios: http://www.teenbodybuilding.com/derekbulk.htm

It will be a lot easier for you to lose fat in the summer because of the heat.

Kurt what is HIIT. Did you mean HIT (High Intensity Training)?

        no no no

loose the fat first, when gaining weight as in bulking up to add muscle mass, you want to do it as cleanly as possible so when it comes to cutting you will have less fat to lose - meaning you will not have to diet as aggresively, dieting aggresively means you will loose more muscle mass, and that is not what you want to do.

Also dieting down allows you to see your weakness's so you know what parts need extra attention.

And NO all the 'bodybuilders' do not bulk up during winter, if there a 'bodybuilder' there bulking up in the off-season so they can come in at there best during the season, and as some may know, there are competitions during the winter times.

And finally NO paul, I did not mean HIT, that is a muscle building workout, HIIT is a cardio workout, and I did state that. HIIT stands for 'high intensity interval training'

I'm on a regulated 6 meal a day diet right now and taking in atleast 500 calories less every day then my body needs so I should steadily lose one pound of fat every week, I'll probably do this for atleast a couple of months, this way I won't lose any muscle. When I'm gonna start to bulk up, I won't just eat and eat and eat, I'll diet steadily for it just like I'm doing now so I gain minimal fat.
