Confidence and skill are an unconquered army.

If you have the skill to beat this guy, then you should have the confidence. If you believe in your training, then there is no reason to not believe in yourself.
Good luck; But make sure that luck has nothing to do with it.

don't worry about winning or losing, the are the same thing. the worst thing you can do is to not focus on the fight when you fighting because your worried about winning or losing. Because you can get so caught up in it the fight will be over before your ready.

oh and read the other thread you started!!

You're right to be scared. It is not unknown to be KILLED in boxing! You could DIE! And for what? Don't do it. Move house, change your identity and forget about your old life.

Only joking. Its just normal. You find out what you're made of when you're crapping yourself. Would you really want it any other way?

There was a guy a knew thought fought someone better than he was. The guy had a lot more stamina and strength, overall better condition even though he was shorter and had a hard time getting head shots because of it.

Anyway, the shorter guy in better condition put the guy I knew in coma for 3 weeks. It was a nasty fight and my friend hasn't been the same since.

Do what you want, but it sounds like you're heading for the same road my friend went down.

A smart fighter wins the fight before it even starts. He is confident and fights smart. If you are afraid you will fight afraid. You need to push fear, thoughts of winning and losing out of your mind. Rely on your training and let it carry you through. Try a short meditation before the match. Just real quick, a few deep breaths to clear your mind. And one more thing....noone is invinsible. Dont let your advisary psych you out. Clear your mind, fight smart..

That is so very very true. Indeed, no-one, and I mean NO-ONE is invinsible.

Basically because the word doesn't exist.

Also, be prepared to get a concussion, because this guy sounds way better than you.

How does he prepare for that? Strap an ice pack to his head and secrete an asprin in his gum shield?

                      Only asking........

                        That got me thinking.

Stuff a big sponge down your shorts.

Of course you're scared. Everybody gets scared. It is not reflection on how brave you are. I would argue that the people who go into a fight without a hint of fear are the ones looking to get their ass kicked as to be overconfident is to invite trouble. And realise the fear is not about getting hit. You've been there and done that. Yes the fear of losing is true, but it's more a case of losing in front of your friends and family who might be there to see you. But i think that's more a case of having them laugh at you if you lose. And if that's the case they're not very good friends. And as for the people who are saying this guy's invincible. No such thing. Just use your fear in the fight. It'll keep you on edge and your attention 100%. And don't think for one second that this guy isn't scared too. However. Go into the fight prepared and with a plan, and a second and third plan. And imagine how you'll feel to win the fight, and the most amazing buzz that comes with the win. If you spend more time thinking about that rather than thinking of how bad it'll be to lose it'll help alot.
