  • For those of you interested in "Ki"

I would like to maybe suggest some ways and maybe try to help some of u all improve your knowledge...maybe even internal health!

I have studied a lot on ki and can try to help if u all have questions...My first advice is: if u want to cultivate your ki.....its good to do breathing exercises in teh morning and meditation in teh afternoon/night. Ill try to post more helpful suggestions if u all are interested.

How does ki improve internal Health? I am just curious because I have read a lot about it also. I have read about bonemarrow cleansing and all that good stuff. Anyways, what are the long term benefits? Do you live one hundred years more or something?

well meditation and breathing exercise are involved in improving your ki.....those two actions also increase your health...so improving ki=improving health. It also makes u a better person because in order to empty your mind...u must get rid of greed and selfishness.....if your ki is good...u must have a positive mind. I guess what im tryin to say is that it helps in that having good ki means having a good mindset...and a good mindset or character...makes u have a better life...and become a good martial arts practitioner....there is such thing as bad ki however, it is called "Sa Ki", as opposed to the good ki or "Sun Ki." one must have good ki, not bad ki obviously.
Also...improving ones ki involves being at a more "infant state." When u see an infant....infants are flexible...they also breath from their abdomen. Also, since infants have not yet had time to create any negative thoughts...they have well-ba;lanced minds. If we become in more of an "infant state" (and no i dont mean act like 2 year olds ahaha), we will have better ki, and in addition having a better, healthier life. I could go on and on/

You can see this thread at:

I dont think that, that is chi but i am not completely sure so could you enlighten me?

ahahh no no no that is not chi.....hitting a tree until u get bloody? if Ki means stupid...then yes it is ki ahahah. Ki isnt just physical...as a matter of fact its more mental. Vital spots..(spots around your body) carry ki. I guess some people can think of vital spots as pressure points..but that isnt a good word for it i guess.

Ahh, I am very interested in chi/ki. I practice zen, and have tried a little bit Of tai-chi. I think one of the best things about chi though, is it helps your fighting. It makes you more graceful, swift, and most of all more powerfull. And even better, it teaches your mind to be clear, helps you from being taken over by worries or thoughts, and also helps your reaction times, especially when fighting.

yes, i can't believe how well my tai chi has imporved my kenpo training. i have much more balance then i ever had, then b4 doing taichi. i reccomend it to neone wanting to take their training to the next level as far as balance, swiftness, and fluidity goes. some people alos don't give tai chi enough credit. it can be a very practical art if trained in correctly and practiced for many yrs. its definetly not one of those arts that u take for 2-5 yrs it's a life long art all the way.

i agree with both of u \...however, ive never goptten intoa fight so i wouldnt kno if havin good ki would help u in fights...i bet it does tho. By staying relaxed and focusing on ure opponent(s), u wont get nervous and worry about the people watching u.

that's also a good point, but keep in mind having the chi "flow thru" u and being able to recognize it will help reactions as well...not just a physical aspect, but being able...to sense changins and move according to the changes

I definatly want to know. What do you recomend in the way of breath control in relation to the function of centered conciousness. I can hold the state of mind neccecary for me to project my mental focus through my body when I want to practice it. But I would like to know the proper breathing techniques to not suffocate myself. =)

there are a few ways to practice your breathing exercises....one is to inhale while bringing your arms up. Then exhale slowly while lowering your arms down. When your arms have been lowered quite a bit...and u have almost exhaled all the air in your lungs....breathe that extra bit of air out fast and hold your breath while raising your arms once again. then...as you raise your arms high...and have held your breathe....lower your arms and breathe normally.
