  • Any one familiiar with Fear no Man"?

    I'm sure I'll get flamed for even posting the link but I got to this in my research;

    and the part about

"Their natural pain-avoidance reaction to combat had been “reprogrammed” with an automatic combat response"

seemed interesting to me, i.e. the core of the system is accelerating the mind/nervous system to aggression rather then fear.

any thoughts/experience (besides the obvious comments on the incredibly overhype

so not buying them... im not even sure id download them for free. i did read to the end tho to be fair.

personal preference, id rather train the normal way than try to learn from DVDs

might be something in the idea of what mental approach you take to training tho, i do best when really pissed off...

Reprogramming fear with agression can be quite dangerous. It means that you could be unable to exercise restraint, ending up using excessive force and being charged with assault, or having someone's death on your conscience, or doing something else you might regret.
Instead, it's much better to replace fear with calm/clear/spontaneous thinking and control, through things such as meditation. Which means that you would have natural courage, while keeping the ability to choose an appropriate response and exercise restraint.

That's a damn good post compared to your others.

Don't get to happy now, this compliment is coming from someone who can't speak or write properly...

You seem to know the difference between a fighter/killer and martial artist. That is quite a well thought out response. Nice!

I think you can train yourself to behave or react a certain way.

I'd rather remain fearful, piss my pants, get beat up and then come to my senses... then it's either fight or flight. But I have the hardest time letting out agression, I'm too nice... I even nearly slapped myself once when trying to slap this one boy bully in class... I held back, so my hand ended up passing between him and me. lol, I was fanning him... I was sooo embarrassed after that. The next time around I kicked him in the shin... that I can do, though not so proud of.

One big red flag in that link you gave... "Short Cut"
I dunno how you all feel about short cuts in training.
                seems half arse to me.

well thats the thing here,it's nice to know martial arts but it is essential to know how and when to use what you have learned depending on various situations..
As for the aggressive reflexes, i totaly agree with fanman. It is much smarter and (harder too) to learn to remain calm and ready than to go berserk and completely reckless...The moment you lose your cool, you lose the fight.

Personaly,if someone went mad and reckless,id just irritate him more..pushing him to make mistakes.Of course im not saying you should push someone until he draws a knife at you...but just enough to make him commit errors.(wide swings, throwing himself off-balance..etc)

Its good for real n00bs. But I wouldnt suggest it for somone who has training/experiance you know? I know somone who says there shit vids. But hey! there aint nothing wrong with anger! so long as you know what to do with it! and dont say otherwise or i'll get very angry *glares* Nah, but seriously, anger is there for a reason, and needs to be controlled ofr another reason, but you cant say its a BAD response.

I mean its better than fear... for your own physical health that is.. But then again... Like Buddha says! "Anger is like picking up a hot peice of coal and trying to throw it at the person you hate, your the only one that gets burned" this brings to mind another quote "When you get angry, think of the consequences" - Confucious

I think if the video gives some insight on how to reprogram your intial response to a combat situation, it could be worth 40 bucks or whatever.

A lot of people would have fewer scars if they'd only been able to recognize they were being set up.. or fo rthat matter, been aware of their surroundings.

The overhype really turns me off. Especially when the guy could be a pencil neck Psyche major.
