hmmm... i have never been in a reall fight situation cause i just talk myself outa them. like one time i was walking back from a certain place with my friend (dont worry all i am just not describing it as it would take to long) anywho i was there and walking, with my frien as i said, and we heard voices in the distance but we had to keep on walking, so i zipped up my brown jacket and put on my hood, and then we eventually saw them, just a bunch of random drunks, they walk up to me and start mumbling angrily somthing about me being a bastard, and i said "hey guys whats the problem? did i do somthing? if i did i am sorry." at this point one of 'em comes up and really tries to look at me (some buff looking dude) and says "wait a minute this guy isnt ___'s ex boyfriend. and i took my hood off and say "see, anyway sorry guys for making you think that" anywho so we started talking and i would agree with what they said all the time and one of them starts mumbling random names (turns out they knew my friend) anyway so thats not interesting, but i think if i had have done what my friend did which was basically try6 to get away from there without talking at all they woulda followed us and it woulda been ugly... coz they told me they were going to beat me up when we were talking.

This one is not really much but anywho
i was talking with my friends and one guy i used to know comes up and chalanges me to a fight and i accept. He got me in a headlock and i punched him in the gut which seemed to scare him coz when he knew me i was a weak pussy, anyway i hit him a couple times and he laughed and somwhat embaressedly says "ha your pretty good..." and walks off.

but anywho the closet thing to a real fight i have been in actual contact would be when i train with friends and we hit each other.

Tant01 made an excellent point by implying that you shouldn't be starting trouble. I've got a story that proves the same point, which is also anti intoxication. My two friends and I went to a place that is know for two things: Lots of beautiful women, and lots of juice heads. As we were arriving my one friend, who was already drunk, spoke about picking a fight, but I thought that he was kidding. So first we get in and hang out for about an hour, and then he gets kicked out for slapping some girlfriends butt. Then, we're outside, and someone supposedly spits on his car. Arguing, posturing. Then it's gets broken up. We all start driving out of there. I'm in a seperate car from my 2 friends who were behind me. So we're driving on this dark road that lead to the club when my friends realize that the kids that we had problems with from the parking lot are following us and honking there horn. I didn't hear them because I had the music playing. But my drunken friend calls and tells me to pull over. I thought this was so he could lead the way back to his house. Then, after about 15 seconds pass I realize that my drunken friend is about to get it on with this roid head in the street. Without thinking I take off my seat belt, and jump out of the car window, because the door wouldn't open fast enough, and run over to see my one friend getting his face pounded as his arms hang lifelessly to his sides while he is in a seated position. I hit the kid who's beating on him, staggering him long enough to get off of him. When I see my friends face it looks like raw meat. All mangled. I pick him up, and watch him stumble over to my car. I turn to tell the roid head that I don't want to fight, and get this...the kid actually listened. We stopped fighting, as he told his friends to get off of my other one. I thought everything was over, but my other friend had to run his mouth until the roid head punched him in it. Then the police and ambulance started to come towards us, so we started to leave. The ambulance and cop passed right by us. They were going there to stop a different fight.

Man there must've been about 10 fights every weekend night there. But the main lesson learned was that I can stop a fight by talking my way out of it. Sometimes you just have to surrender your ego to the other guy. He says that he can kick your ass, then let him say that. Hell, even tell him that he probably can. It'll aviod what can lead to death, or some other danger. Needless to say that I'm no longer friends with those guys. Getting drunk and starting trouble is not my idea of a good time.

fanman, I hope you have grown up alot since both of those events? If you are driving down the road and call out to someone and say what you said then I happen to think that you got what you deserved. Now, for your comment about freezing up and not being able to do anything... you said you were going to train harder. The problem is not with how hard you train but in how you train. You could be the hardest training guy in the world but if you do not train for reality and train under pressure then you will never get any better. You will look good doing what you do but until you put a dose of reality into your training you will be lacking in "street fight" situations.

You should also consider yourself very lucky that you were able to pull off the spinning back kick and the crescent kick on the guy. Most people with any type of fighting experience will be able to pick up on the body movement to either move out of the way or bum rush you when you are doing this.(No offense to your skills) I use to teach a MMA class at a Shaolin Kung Fu school and was always amazed when watching them spar because I could tell what they were going to do before they did it. The main reason was becuase they did not train there stuff with any kind of reality. They would always "set" before throwing certain kicks and they would always telegraph what they were doing.

So anyway I guess all my ramblings here are to say to you that you do not need to train harder but smarter inorder to be better prepared for the different circumstances you will encounter. Also, to tell you that you need to change the way you act when in public. You are a martial artist so quit acting like a thug. Next, time you are in aclub and you wink and smile at a girl, if she does not wink and smile back and give you all kinds of good vibes then do not make your way over to her. If you do insist on dancing up to her and talking to her then if she does not give off the vibe that she is diggin you then move my brother there are plenty more girls out there.

i've got a lot of them but i can't possibly recall them all.

the last fights i've had at school was in the sixth grade when i was a purple belt. some jackass was pushing me around and so i started to kick him. the dude really suck and kept on coming at me with the same punch and kept leaving his ribs open. some other guys had to stop him before i hurt him and then he took some cheap shots at me during the football game after i was already on my back he started to kick me (this was before i learned how to wrestle). he threw a weakass punch at the back of my head. he went around telling everybody in school that he kicked my ass though. i wanted to have another fight with him just to prove that i was better than him especially considering that now i could dominate him in any situation.

then there was this big guy who started to fight me in class. it turned into basically a grappling match and i ended up having the upper hand before our teacher stepped in.

the last fight i got in was when a couple of guys tried to jump me in the bathroom. it ended fairly quickly. the first guy to come at me i dropped with a sidekick and the other one backed off. nobody else messed with me after that.

i've never had an actual event in the street where people have tried to mug me but i've had a lot dreams of people attacking me and my mom while we're at home and i react well every time.

Here's one: Tyrone got shanked in the heart (and bled to death). At the hospital they were able to resuscitate him but he had severe brain damage. He actually lived for a few years (with his feeding tubes). He is survived by his wife and Tyrone Jr. was born two months after his daddy was attacked.

Here's another: Mike woke up in the hospital and had no memory of the event at all. He didn't even remember beating the living crap out of the guy that ran him down with the F-250.

And another: Paul was on a five day meth binge and when he came home ready to burn out for a few days his wife shot him in the face with .410 Ga.

He lived but he's blind and nearly deaf now... The shotgun lobotomy made him quite humble...

This is very true, I froze one when I was younger, and got the shit kicked out me. I got held down, and belted. The guy through the belt at my bird, and I couldent do anything. I got kicked in the face and eventually someone helped me, and took a beating for it. I felt so fucking pathetic and was so angry and upset. I realise now that I froze because I was thinking of what Could Have Happend, what I didnt realise is by freezing it did happen. I think I was lucky tho because they could have had knifes, and a dirty skanky chav would kknife ya rather than loose.

The only time I get close to a fight is when my older brothers declare to strangers to "watch out because I'm an ultimate fighter!" Yeah I've training in MMA and enjoy it, but I'm no Ultimate Fighter.

Situation 1: My brothers invite me over to a house party and by the time I get there they are already drunk. They have someone there turning tables and I'm having a good time when out of nowhere I hear my brother saying to someone not to mess with me because I'm an ultimate fighter. I start to get tense as this guy starts sizing me up. I try to verbally ease the situation by stating that I'm not that good, I'm still learning, but my brother kept on cutting in saying that I am that good. Then my brother gets the idea to try to force me to show how good I am by circling around me throwing jabs at me. This is not what I want and what I was trying to avoid. I get sick of it and when he goes for a jab as he chambers I close the gap and go into a clinch and knee him in the balls and push him to the ground. Fights over and I'm pissed I had to do it. He staggers over to the couch saying that wasn't fair.

Things seem to settle down and I begin to relax a little bit when I'm approached by the guy who my brother warned him about me. He asked me what styles I train in. Once again I try to say how I'm just beginning but I'm training in such and such art. I'm making sure to keep the conversation calm and casual. Then he lets me know he's a golden glove boxer that mainly toured up in Canada. I know by looking at him that's B.S. but I don't care. If he wants me to accept him as being better then me and it avoids a fight I don't mind. He then lets me know he has trained with his buddy in some kung fu style and he begins to get into a stance. He then begins to motion at me like he's going to attack as he starts bobbing up and down in this weird looking stance. I judge how he's moving that he's going to fake high and go low and sure enough as I drew that conclusion he lunges at me faking high and going low. I catch him and sprawl where I just pivot around him and get him in a RNC. He tapped, I let him go, then he lets me know that I'm pretty good. Then I just leave.

After that incident I have yet to go to a party with my brothers, or anywhere with them where alcohol is being consumed.

I have another situation I'll post later as it is a long story and I don't feel like typing it now.

Being a big Ramones fan from the late seventies early eighties I wanted and got Marks autograph on a T-shirt. Some punk with an attitude about twice my size ( wich isn't saying much, I'm all of 150 lbs at 5'8") Snatched my shirt. Well needless to say a fight broke out. I grabbed him by the liberty spikes and ragdolled his ass. My point is if you freeze, it's not because of your art, It's because of your level of confidence or your lack of experience. Don't carry a weapon if you don't have the knowledge or sack to use it and don't take a fighting posture against an agressor unless your prepaired to fight because you will get hurt. You may only have a split second to decide wether or not to fight, but once you make that critical decision, you need to act upon it fast. Never wait till the other guy throws the first punch because you may not get the chance to counter.
I do agree that boxing, kickboxing,BJJ or Muay thai, are all great arts based in reality. But if your training is not reality based your wasting your time. The only way to learn to defend yourself is by defending yourself. And I think that the BJJ guys out their will agree with me that if you dont learn how to take a stand up situation to the ground safely or should I say properly, you can get hurt. The same with kempo or any other art, If your learning to defend against a single front two knuckle punch to the center of your chest, instead of a flurry of punches aimed with the sole intent to hurt you, you've trained in vain.
one thing though, at least in canada this is true. If you throw the first punch even if a fight is going to break out no matter what you get charged. You have to get hit at least once before retaliating.... Kind of stupid yes but that is why I like boxing (kickboxing or whatever) you learn to take a punch, gloved yes but it still gets you used to getting hit.

Just something to keep in mind.

I agree that boxing and kickboxing are great arts. However if someone practices another art(s) for SD wouldn't it help them to just really strengthen there neck to help them take a punch? I say this due to the fact that there are other sparring MAs out there. If I'm wrong let me know so I'm no longer "as" ignorant.
